Il Focone — Restaurant in Genoa

The restaurant offers a beautiful view of the sea, perfect for watching the sunset. However, the terrace's interior leaves much to be desired: the walls are quite worn, with plaster and paint peeling off in many places, and the touch-ups appear rather sloppy. The cutlery, plates, and glasses are of low quality. I would recommend investing in at least decent wine glasses and giving the place a cosmetic makeover, which would significantly improve the overall experience.

As for the food, I started with the mussels, and unfortunately, a few of them were not fresh. Overall, the dish was acceptable. For the main course, I had grilled squid, and since it came without a side, I ordered grilled vegetables as well. Both dishes were good.

The owner here harassed my friend and I last week. We were passing by and saw how beautiful the restaurant was. It was a little too early to eat dinner so we decided we would go down to see about renting one of the beach chairs outside of the restaurant and then eat dinner there once we were hungry. We do not speak Italian but we could tell that the owner was very upset with us. We told him we didn’t understand what he was saying but that we planned to eat at the restaurant and wanted to pay to rent beach chairs as well. Finally an employee who spoke english came and told us that they stop selling spots on the chairs at 7:00. We decided to leave since the owner was so disrespectful. I had a wonderful experience at Il Focone! The location is simply stunning – right by the sea, with calm, peaceful views that create the perfect setting for a relaxing meal.

The atmosphere is beautiful and cozy, ideal for both casual dinners and special occasions. The pizza was absolutely delicious – fresh ingredients, perfectly baked, and full of flavor. They also offer seafood and other Italian dishes that looked amazing.

What truly stood out was the service. The staff were friendly, professional, and very attentive. A special shoutout to Saleem, who was incredibly kind and welcoming – he really made our visit memorable.
