If anyone doubts pizza can brighten your day, go to Pizzeria Napoli Porta A Porta! We’d had a pretty terrible day - flat tire, rental car runaround, hotel mishap - but the good folks at this delicious pizza joint, were kind, cheerful, and just good peeps. We went there just intending to grab something to kill hunger. But we got so much more. We got a huge warm welcome, big smiles, some laughs, and a chance to taste authentic Napoli treats. We got 2 pizzas, both super tasty, and a great re-introduction to Genoa after a rough start. I don’t think the lovely woman, who spoke English, and her friendly boyfriend, who doesn’t, both of whom run the place, knew how much their kindness meant. And the pizza is terrific!! Thank you, Pizzeria Napoli...

Oggi mi ritrovo seduta davanti al porto, nel cuore di Genova, con una pizza che sembra avere l’anima. È incredibile come un semplice piatto riesca a racchiudere emozioni così intense: ogni morso è un viaggio, un ritorno a Napoli. La bufala che si intreccia con il pomodoro è un abbraccio che esplode in bocca, una rivoluzione di sensazioni che mi fanno chiudere gli occhi e sorridere. I titolari della pizzeria, con la loro squisita gentilezza, mi hanno persino fatto assaggiare alcune specialità della loro terra. E in quell’istante ho capito una volta di più che Napoli non la porti solo nel cuore: ti segue ovunque, ti parla attraverso i sapori, i gesti, la generosità delle persone. Le prime giornate di settembre scorrono lente, il sole scalda ancora questa città, e io mi sento avvolta da un calore che sa di casa. Genova davanti, Napoli dentro: e nel mezzo ci sono io, grata a questi momenti semplici che sanno...
