We have spent 10 days travelling in Sicily (Catania & Siracusa) & tonight is the first time I have written a poor review for a restaurant!! Tonight's dinner, in this restaurant, has been the worst meal & most indifferent service of the holiday. So disappointed after queuing for 15 mins for a table! I understand it is a Saturday night & the restaurant was busy, but the waiter who took our order was so unfriendly. While waiting for our mains, we were not offered any bread or bread sticks, yet other tables did have bread. When 3 out of the 4 plates arrived, the waiter did not bring cutlery & he did not seem to realise that a gourth meal was missing!!! When we eventually got the waiters' attention & asked for cutlery, we were told to wait. All the time, our food was sitting going cold! My sister's lasagne was served luke warm & sloppy. Still, my husbands pizza did not arrive at all. When we finally got the waiters' attention again to ask about the missing food & explain the lasagne was cold he shrugged, had a face like thunder & just took the plate & disappeared! At no point was an apology forthcoming. Eventually, the missing pizza & the lasagne arrived, both piping hot really not that great or tasty. On the plus side, I enjoyed my seabass, but the accompanying potatoes were stone cold! My nephews bolognase & the chips were good. I would suggest there are better places to eat than here, so definitely...
Read moreWe came to eat there because the place we wanted to go to was closed. We had a mozarella buffala and tomatoes for appetizer : 10€ for 5 tomato slices, 5 small slices of mozarella with no seasoning, no sauce or vinaigrette, I had to ask for olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Then I ordered the spaghetti a la vongole (clams) and cherry tomatoes : the broth tasted like salty water instead of fish broth with white wine. It was so salty I could not finish the dish. And I never saw the cherry tomatoes that were supposed to be in the dish, it was only tomato skin in it. So I asked for some lemon to lower the salty taste : the waiter refused to give me lemon, because there was none. Is it even possible to have no lemon in a restaurant ? W also had the gnocchi a la sorrentina : we could only taste the salt in it. The waiter was really unpleasant too, so I cannot even give 2 stars. As a conclusion : do not go to this restaurant, at least in March. This restaurant is a tourist trap, it does not deserve 4,3 stars.
Edit : I am sorry I did not say the food was too salty, I lost my saliva eating your food. I hope at least you will be more careful about the taste. Have a...
Read morePasta alla Norma was easily the highlight — flavorful and well done. Unfortunately, the other pastas (Aglio e Olio and Arrabbiata) were either bland or overwhelmingly spicy. The restaurant seems popular, likely due to its authentic Italian decor, which stands out compared to others nearby.
Staff were friendly when the place was quiet, but once it got busy, things fell apart. They seemed overwhelmed and stopped paying attention to the tables.
I had high hopes for the Italian dry-aged meat, but it was a huge letdown. First, it was overpriced. Then, the staff awkwardly guided me to the fridge to explain the meat selection, disturbing other guests. Even after asking several times, I got no clear answer on the price. The final dish was overcooked, possibly burnt, completely flavorless — definitely not what dry-aged meat should be.
If you’re craving meat, skip this place and head to La Spelonca for their Tagliata di Manzo — cheaper, tastier,...
