I highly recommend La Torretta! It’s not the easiest task organising a wedding from overseas and with a language barrier, and there were definitely moments where I was worried about how it would all fall into place on the day, without having visited the location in person. But the best decision I made was trusting my gut and choosing this restaurant for our dinner. I could already feel the warmth from them in our emails, and then on the wedding evening itself since we were having so much fun, we decided to continue the rest of the evening here, with the agreement of the owners who were so flexible with us! Our saxophonist played between the two long tables that were set up according to my wishes, and we gave our guests the choice between two menus that I had chosen earlier. The food was fantastic, homemade, authentic, delicious, just what you want when you travel to Italy. They kept the drinks flowing the entire evening, nobody ever had an empty glass. And most of all, we felt welcomed, and at home. It’s the family, the people here who make it special. They kept it open for us until 4am, again totally unplanned, but because we were all having so much fun, they joined in too, some local kids were dancing with us, it was simply beautiful. This is the kind of Italian culture that you can appreciate, this is why we chose this part of the world to celebrate our marriage. Thank you La Torretta for your hospitality and for helping to make our wedding night special...
Read moreThe simple fact that I'm taking the time to write my very first review on Google should indicate how impressed and passionate I am about this establishment.
If you are anywhere in the area an hour or so South of Salerno, you must take the time to drive up to this absolutely incredible family run ristorante.
The setting couldn't be more surreal and idyllic. A beautiful courtyard full of outdoor tables set below a magnificent old fortress like tower complete with a stunning view across the valley all the way out to the sea.
The son, Pasquale and his wife take care of waiting on the tables while his mother runs the kitchen and his father ensures that the entire operation operates as efficiently as it does.
Every single dish we tried was delicious and made with the freshest ingredients and genuine care and attention from the chef. You can't go wrong ordering any item on their menu (chicken, pasta, vegetables...they are all spectacular).
The Bufala di mozzarella they use in their caprese salads is the best Bufala di mozzarella I've tasted in all my trips to Italy.
The food and experience were so good we went here twice in our last three days in Santa Maria di Castellabate.
My wife and our two children were treated like family the moment we walked into this establishment.
Please do not miss visiting La Torretta as this ristorante is what Italy is all...
Read moreThis is a review for the restaurant. We did not stay at the hotel. A magnificent view over the sunset and mountains of Cilento. Food that is simple and delicious, you can tell everything is fresh and perfectly seasoned. They serve local and rustic dishes, full of flavor and high quality. We had chicken and chicken cacciatore ( this is how chicken should be done), delicious starter plates veg and non veg ( very good variety and to die for!), three different fresh pastas (all great), ravioli and stuffed eggplant and there was not a single dish that would disappoint. They also serve local wine from Paestum wineries and surrounding area. Did I mention it’s family run and the service is very nice? The mother of the family has been cooking here for 26 years and it shows in a perfect balance of all dishes! Prices are very reasonable and the outdoor seating is...
