Ristorante La Ruota — Restaurant in Imperia

Restaurant opened at 7, we arrive at 7:20 and all tables are empty, but we have no reservation so we are rudely turned away. We are surprised as we are standing at an empty restaurant. We go to the next restaurant, where we can see the empty La Routa tables from where we sit. We have two courses and leave at 8:30, all the while the outside tables at La Ruota are only half full. As we walk past we see the entire inside is empty! So they certainly could have accommodated us!! I guess they don't like money?? A strange business plan to turn away willing customers when there is space. It is a very nice spot, but go next door instead. Here, they will charge 15 eur for a pasta pomodoro for a kid, and attempt to do the same for a plain pasta for a kid (!), only somewhat reduced after an argument. 25 eur for a tiny portion of grilled fish, no sides. The trofie al pesto either had gorgonzola in it, or it has gone bad. The grilled tuna was not fresh. The pasta vongole was decent. Staff was nice, apart from the owner who was very rude. Nice place, lovely view, good food (we ate only pasta) but the service was terrible 😞 No smile, no talk, the waiter was really in a hurry to take the order so i had to run following him to add a plate for my daughter.. I asked a coffee with milk afterwards but he forgot the milk, i waited for 10 mins because nobody has showed up anymore, went inside again but they were kind of bothered with my request 🤔 Considering the prices are not very low i would expect the stuff to be a little bit kinder..
