Ristorante Doria di Basini — Restaurant in Isola del Giglio

We ended up having a rather nice lunch here on a day trip to Isola Del Giglio. I didn't want to eat too much as I wasn't that hungry, but what I had was perfect. I went for the Pici al Granchio Rosso (bigger and thicker spaghetti-like pasta) which consisted of tomato sauce and red crab. The pici were nice and al dente, the sweet white crab meat (which I cracked open) went down well with the smooth and the deep tomato sauce that accompanied it. All in all I was very happy with my choice, but seen as I love my pasta I'd say that there could of been a few more pici on the plate! ;) The service was friendly and easy-going. Would highly recommend this place if you find yourself on this pretty little island....

A MUST-VISIT for seafood lovers! DORIA restaurant exceeded all expectations. The freshness of the seafood was unparalleled, and the flavors were absolutely delectable. From the perfectly grilled fish to the delicious sea urchin pasta, every dish showcased the chef's expertise. Overlooking the sea, the atmosphere was pleasant and inviting, and the staff's friendly service made the experience even more enjoyable, at a great value for money! Bel locale con terrazza sulla spiaggia che affianca il lungomare Thaon de Revel. Essa si affaccia con suggestiva vista sul porto dell'isola del Giglio. Il ristorante è organizzato su turni di prenotazione. Il primo alle 20:00 ed il secondo alle 21:45, su organizzazione tipo mensa aziendale. Abbiamo prenotato la cena alle 20:00 ed ordinato spaghetti al sugo di granchio, zuppa di pesce alla Gigliese ed altro piatto con filetti di pesce. Gli spaghetti, seppure al dente, erano normalmente al sugo, vero è che anche il granchio, una volta rotte le zampe e le chele, non presentavano alcuna traccia dello stesso sugo al suo interno. La zuppa di pesce era formata da n° 12 cozze (molto cotte), 4 vongole, 4 gamberetti, una pannocchia (piccola) e tentacolini di calamaretti (molto piccoli), si è rivelata una banale zuppa di cozze al sapore di pomodoro (molto liquido). Servizio pessimo! Mentre ancora intento a finire il mio primo piatto, alla mia compagna arrivò il suo secondo di pesce. Anche per l'ordine dei dessert, resi vani dalla lunga attesa, abbiamo dovuto desistere per poi pagare il conto recandoci direttamente alla cassa. Il personale di sala era talmente attento a ripreparare i tavoli per il turno successivo da non preoccuparsi dei commensali residui, eludendone i vari tentativi di chiamata tramite cenni.
