I dined here with two friends while vacationing in the area. The night clerk from the hotel across the street recommended Sapori as they offer a discount to hotel guests. They also were happy to serve us despite our somewhat late arrival to Levanto which was wonderful considering most of the other restaurants nearby looked to be closing down for the night.
The entire experience was perfect from start to finish. Every staff member we had the pleasure of interacting with brought a unique charm and they were all incredibly welcoming and hospitable. They were out of one of the dishes we wanted to try but our server recommended an alternative that I now feel was an even better choice, a local octopus specialty.
We shared several delicious dishes. I cannot recall the names of each of them as our visit was now a month ago, but each one was representative of the local cuisine and included highlights such as pesto, cuttlefish ink pasta, seared tuna and more. The wine we ordered was both affordable and very palatable.
We ate streetside in warm lighting conditions on a pleasant early fall evening. The streets were active but peaceful, and the scene overall had a charming and congenial atmosphere.
I cannot say enough about the entire experience of Sapori. I only wish that I lived closer and could visit more often. 10/10 I fully recommend to anybody...
Read moreHonestly this is a catch 22 of amazing staff and semi good food with a few painful mistakes.
I got the pesto with potatoes and beans; the pesto was wonderful, the pasta cooked to be slightly gummy (as the Italians love) but the potatoes....half raw...I said to the staff I love the dish but can you replace the potatoes. I got again just off the cook and almost raw (better but still not ok) potatoes....no pesto...so again I have to say where's the sauce I mean these are expensive potatoes at this point but again I had to wait another 10 minutes.
I want to stress the staff were great 10/10 and frankly I felt sorry for them having to have me say "oh you have given me raw potatoes again" but I ate them and moved on.
My wives steak was beautiful and cooked well but the sauce was burnt and inedible; this is what I mean when I say catch 22 this place is great then you pay for burnt sauce.
Overall...it's ok and I wouldn't say "don't go" I'd say I hope the restaurant is doing better that day. I'd say I'd come back (if I could) next week and I bet it would be 5/5 but this really ticked me off. I stress to the owner you have the best staff and I hope you realise the only reason I gave 4/5 was for them otherwise I'd...
Read moreDidn’t even get to try the food, and happy we didn’t stay. We sat down, and were looking at the menu and drinks when the waiter came up to us and asked if we wanted water. We asked for a few more minutes to decide what drink we wanted and the waiter scoffed at us and said (in Italian) “What you don’t even know if you want water?” in such a rude way, and walked away. The group I was with weren’t too interested in the food after looking more into the menu, so we got up and started walking out. Literally all the staff ended up saying “Ciao” to us in such a sarcastic and disrespectful way as if they were so happy we were leaving. We didn’t notice this in the moment, but one of the people we were with is Italian and can tell the sarcastic and rude tones. Honestly so confused to why they were so rude, as we quite literally did nothing wrong, we were just asking for more time to order. Don’t go to this place unless you want salty and immature Italians treating you with...
