Ristorante La Botte — Restaurant in Lignano Sabbiadoro

That was so unexpected and frankly the first time for many years and hundreds of restaurants 😁. Everything was very smooth and the personnel were very welcoming. We reserved our table for 9 people, arrived on time and got into Narnia at first since from the outside La Botte looks like a moderately small building. But inside we were travelling through several halls to reach our final destination - table for 10. Overall we calculated about 500 tables. Wow!! Then we were immediately served with our drinks and ordered food. We have ordered a big plate of fish (do recommend!) and other quite standard dishes - greek salad, pizzas, lasagnas and so on. The surprise started with salad. Instead of the expected small plate we were served with a huge one. We could easily share among four what was expected as a dish for one! Next came the carbonara of the same size. And so on. Portions are very big!!! In the end, we didn't manage to eat them all and took them home. And what's important, the quality and taste of the food were great! Same goes for the service. Let me specially mention our waiter Aslam (hope I got your name right!) and manager Elvis. Both were very attentive, quick to respond to any request and replaced a glass of Coke spilled by a child, no questions asked (for free). Dessert also came of the same size and one portion of Panna Cotta was enough for four adults:))) So overall, we had an amazing evening in a great atmosphere, and left La Botte very happy. We were excited to try this restaurant that looks a little bit up-market and quite nice from the outside. As soon as we stepped in, however, we were greeted by a really angry and bored looking woman, who, when we told her that we would like a table for two, turned around without a word and walked away. We were baffled, staying put until she turned around and indicated that we should follow her. She wanted to give us the worst table in the darkest corner. When we asked to be placed at a table next to the window, many of those were obviously available, she just said okay. The menu comes in Italian and German. The German, however, is the most lazy and bad translation and spelling I have ever encountered. Someone who obviously does not care at all has done some really bad job translating. The service continued to be mediocre. Food-wise, we really enjoyed the Vitello Tonnato and the risotto gamberi. The pasta with salmon, however, was really, really bad. Way too salty, way too fishy, and the salmon was way too smoked. Not enjoyable at all. When we told the waiter about the nice two dishes, and the really bad third dish, he only laughed without saying anything and walked away. We had a good experience at this restaurant. The waiter was very friendly and helpful, explaining the portion sizes and helping us pick the right dishes. He also offered us some complimentary bread, which was a nice gesture, even though the bread itself was a bit dry.

The food came out surprisingly fast. A unique touch is that they bring the food out in big pans, which makes the presentation more interesting and gives it a bit of a family-style feel. There's also a pasta maker on display, which is cool to see and shows they make fresh pasta on-site.

We ordered gnocchi and frutti di mare pasta. Both dishes were tasty and filling. The gnocchi were simple but well-prepared, and the seafood pasta had a decent mix of flavors. Nothing over-the-top, but definitely enjoyable.

The restaurant itself is very nice-looking. The interior is beautiful, and the chairs were especially comfortable, which made the whole experience more relaxing.

The bathroom was a bit worn down, but it was clean, which is the most important thing.

Overall, it was a pleasant visit friendly service, quick food served in an interesting way, comfortable seating, and a cozy, attractive setting. A solid place to enjoy...
