Kasbah Lipari — Restaurant in Lipari

Kasbah is one of those pretentious, tiny portion places... Which is fine if everything's excellent or you've forked out 45 euro for the tasting menu. Sadly the meal was very inconsistent. The bread was horrible - stodgy with a very thick crust. Easily the worst of 2 weeks on the Aeolian Islands. Likewise the post meal 'bonus' almond foam was an odd texture and had a rather unpleasant lingering after taste - the opposite of palate cleansing. In contrast the artichoke starter was excellent - the mushroom and artichoke had been subtly pickled and the other elements complimented them nicely. At that point I thought they might redeem themselves. Sadly the bland gnocchi put pay to that idea... If you're a foodie, want to try something different and have 60+ euro to burn (once wine, water, cuperto are included) it's worth a try. If not you're likely to...

Il locale è carino e arredato in maniera creativa, tuttavia la nostra esperienza non è stata per nulla positiva.

Sin dall'inizio, nonostante la prenotazione e il nostro arrivo in perfetto orario ci hanno fatto aspettare fuori più di mezz'ora e a giudicare dal numero di persone che aspettavano insieme a noi pare fosse un problema comune.

Come se non bastasse, attaccata alla porta d'ingresso c'era la ventola della cucina che emanava forti odori e che ci ha reso l'attesa ancora più piacevole (in senso ironico).

Una volta accomodati all'interno del ristorante, nessuno ci ha considerati per quasi un'ora! Niente acqua, niente menù, niente di niente. Un gruppo di 5 persone completamente ignorato per quasi 60 minuti.

Nel frattempo, lo stesso trattamento veniva riservato anche ad altri clienti (tra cui una persona che conosco) che non hanno avuto la nostra stessa pazienza e se ne sono andati via stufi di aspettare (ho visto 2 tavoli da 4 persone alzarsi e andarsene via). Quello che ci ha lasciato più sgomenti nell'assistere a queste scene, è stato vedere i tavoli abbandonati venire riassegnati ad altri clienti in attesa, senza minimamente cambiare il coperto o "igienizzare" le superfici (alla faccia delle norme anti covid)...

Finalmente, dopo tutta questa attesa, mentre eravamo pure noi in procinto di abbandonare il posto, si presenta un giovane cameriere con i menù e riusciamo finalmente ad ordinare 5 pizze e 1 litro di vino della casa (bianco perché il rosso era finito).

Con nostra grande sorpresa, vista la lunga attesa iniziale, le pizze e il vino sono arrivate in fretta, portate direttamente da un signore adulto che aveva l'aria di essere il proprietario o il responsabile del locale.

Le pizze non erano male mentre il vino non era molto buono, motivo per il quale l'abbiamo lasciato tutto.

Insomma, tralasciando la qualità delle pizze che erano buone e il vino scadente, può darsi che la nostra brutta esperienza sia dovuta alla serata particolarmente affollata o ad un caso sfortunato, tuttavia leggendo le precedenti recensioni, molti altri clienti hanno lamentato simili carenze nel servizio che a mio parere per un ristorante così grande e ambizioso dovrebbe essere la...

Nice location, ambiance and the cats wandering around are a plus. :)

The food could have been better, in particular the two main: octopus and “brisket”. The octopus was cooked on the grill and some pieces were just charcoal. As a result, the whole dish had a very bitter aftertaste. The brisket, which supposedly was cooked for 12 hours, was tough and chewy while I was expecting a “melting-in-your-month” kind of thing. Also, the tomatoes that were supposed to be there got replaced by a (semi-burned) baked potato.

Bread was ok, as well as the fried totano (small portion to be a main in my opinion).
