La Taverna delle Beone — Restaurant in Livorno

Tourist-Trap? We had 3 child portions fries and noodles, 3 small fish sticks, one adult portion noodles and fries, 3 small pieces chicken breast and one carafe sparkling water. This order was not represented in the menu, it was a personal recommendation from the waiter. They charged us 98€ for this. Regarding the service, we had to order the water three times, other orders were completely lost. The cutlery was incomplete. The toilet is dirty, our daughter did not want to use it at all. We were patient, forgiving and friendly all the time so was the staff at the time. But, as my wife placed an honest but still well meaning review she was personally attacked by the owner for this, so we decided to write another one, with more details.

Our children are 4, 7 and 11. The two smaller ones barely eat anything. I ate almost their complete meals to still my hunger. The Carbonara tasted burnt. The fries came on one plate, so it was kind of hard to estimate the portion sizes. We had 2 knives and 4 forks, available, so at least 4 of us didn't have to eat with their fingers. At the time we thought of it being kind of funny and accepted it as a thing you have to deal with in cheap restaurants. Until we got the bill.

The business model seems to be to rip off one time...

Locale piccolo e carino, con una buona accoglienza da parte della ragazza in sala. Eravamo gli unici clienti, e nonostante questo abbiamo atteso un po’ prima che ci venisse preso l’ordine.

Era ora di cena e avevamo scelto il menù “operaio”, ma solo con secondo e contorno. A me e a un altro commensale è arrivato un mini hamburger con una manciata di patatine (forse messe insieme facevano una porzione), mentre al terzo un piattino di straccetti di maiale con un po’ di verdura. Siamo usciti tutti e tre con la fame.

Quando abbiamo fatto notare la cosa, ci è stato detto che il secondo è proporzionato al primo (che noi non avevamo preso), una spiegazione che purtroppo non regge molto. Il conto finale? 50 euro in tre.

Dispiace scrivere una recensione non del tutto positiva, anche perché il locale ha del potenziale e, a giudicare dalle tante recensioni positive, di solito si mangia bene e in abbondanza. Forse siamo stati solo sfortunati, forse sarebbe stato meglio specificarlo prima, ma la nostra esperienza è...

Excellent local place, good value unfussy food. Accommodated our family and spoke enough English to get us through the menu. We did the full 3 courses which is a lot of food! It is busy with lots of local people, including people on their own, many were apparently regulars.. all good signs...
