I visited this restaurant for lunch while on a short trip to Livorno with my wife and 2 children(1,6). We were greeted by the pleasant staff and showed to our table. They brought a baby chair attachment right away and made some space for us to park our stroller. The restaurant is quite nice in terms of ambiance, nice wood, lighter table clothes, balanced lighting and lots of wine stacked against the walls giving me lots to look at. The cutlery and glassware was also of very good quality.
They brought a small amuse bouche for the family and a basket with 3 types of bread.
As a starter, I ordered some raviolone stuffed with ricotta, truffel and sea urchin, my children shared a plate of spaghetti carbonara. We ordered two glasses of vermentino.
My raviolone(2 large ones) was very good and cooked freshly to order. The carbonara was absolutely delicious, the sauce was super rich and had pieces of guanciale, this is probably my favorite version of carbonara I have ever had. The vermentino was quite nice as an accompaniment and did not conflict with any of the food.
Our main course was a Bistecca alla Fiorentina(1.2 kg), garnished with lots of arugula, seasoned with lots of coarse sea salt, Rosemary and cooked medium. We had 2 sides additionally: sliced potatoes (fried) and spinach with garlic and pepperoncini. As we were driving, we ordered a half bottle of Insoglio del Cinghiale.
The sides arrived first, then the centerpiece. I didn't necessarily need the arugula but it probably just helps with the presentation. All of it was delicious with the robust red wine. There was a good bit of fat on the outer parts of the meat. The rosemary also imparted a very nice flavor. We had more than enough food and sadly could not finish it all.
We unfortunately skipped dessert as the kids had their hearts set on going to a nearby gelateria. I am sure the desserts would have also been good based on the experience we had to...
Consigliatissimo, e sicuramente...
Read moreVery lovely people and atmosphere. Food was great. Only (very slight) issue I had was that the prawns was not cleaned (de-veined) before cooking which for me personally was not great and took time to do myself before tucking in. But if this does not bother you then this meal would be amazing. And even after all that cleaning I could see why they prepare it the way they do because the meat of the prawns was just delicious and very sweet. The local wine they recommended was absolutely amazing. Be prepared to wait a little bit for service as they are a bit busy but as they say, all good things come to those who...
