Bad coffee, worse staff.
Edit: The response of the owner is fair. My review was written in a moment of frustration. So, here's the details of that morning.
The doppio that I ordered was too sour. The flavour was overruling the roastiness of the coffee. Overal a disappointing and mainly sour shot. Of course that stuff happens, so with this information you can check the quality of your espresso shots.
What drove me to give 1 star, was the way the staff treated us. It was a busy morning, so I completely understand that the staff was working hard. But that's no reason to treat your customers badly. The girl that took our order was unfriendly from the start and rolled her eyes after she took our order. When we were ready to go and I asked her to pay, she just rudely pointed to the door in a manner as if we are dumb for not knowing this. In an unfriendly tone she said "inside". She gave off the feeling that we were unwanted there. The way she looked at us, felt to me that her behavior was intentional. Inside, the cashier threw the receipts at people in a degrading way, as if giving the paper normally was below them. It just felt like we were a nuisance to the people working there. At first I thought it was because we can't speak italian and communicated in english. But if that's the case, why would you run a business on such a touristy spot? All in all, there's no excuse to treat your customers badly from the start. Everyone deserves a fair piece of respect.
I took the time to truthfully tell you why our experience was bad. I hope you will take it to heart and...
Read moreThe food at this place deserves negative stars. We ordered 2 Caesar salads. It is misleading to call whatever this was a Caesar. This is what the salads consisted of: iceberg lettuce, some chicken, and possibly a half cup of mayonnaise on top of each salad. Absolutely disgusting. A Caesar dressing consists of olive oil, anchovies, lemon, some mayonnaise, Dijon, etc. I removed about a cup of mayonnaise from the salads and tried to remake the dressing from what was available on the table and lemons from the bar. Still, my family refused to touch them and we got out of there as quickly as possible. This place was memorable for how BAD these Caesar salads were. Also, the other reviewers are absolutely right. We also ordered a bowl of the Amatriciana and the portion size was 10 bites or less. Do NOT go here. Weirdly, they had a delicious coffee creme dessert, which we thought was coffee, and they should have alerted us that it was not coffee but rather dessert that we were ordering before our meal. So, if you have to order something with a gun to your head, order the coffee creme and...
Read moreDON’T ORDER THE “CEASAR SALAD”. The employees are nice, the Aperol Spritz was a very nice pour, but the food was VERY poor. My salad came with a cup of mayonnaise on top of chopped iceberg lettuce, pre made chicken so white it looked processed, 2 pieces of mini slices of what seemed to be other than parmesan and toasted white bread slices as croutons. I’m very easy when it comes to food, but the mayonnaise on the salad was a big disappointment and NOT a “Caesar salad”. I think this place is more for coffee and easy drinks. I feel the staff also knows the food is so bad, that they didn’t even ask how the food was or even say “goodbye, thank you” when we left, because of embarrassment. Lastly, the bathroom was so bad. No flush for the toilet, it was filled with toilet paper…it didn’t feel clean or functional. Like I said though, the staff was nice- just not the food...
