During our recent visit to Ristorante Pizzeria La Torre in Maratea, we experienced a few hits and misses with the dishes. We tried the risotto with shrimp and citrus, fresh pasta with clams, and a modern take on the local octopus with potatoes.
The risotto, although promising in concept, was overly salty and overloaded with cheese, which drowned out the delicate flavors of the citrus and shrimp. The fresh pasta with clams had a similar issue, being too salty and with a texture more like noodles than the fresh local pasta we were expecting.
The octopus dish was a modern twist on the traditional local recipe, replacing oven-baked potatoes with a potato purée that felt more like a leaked soup. The octopus itself was fried, creating a combination that, unfortunately, didn’t impress us. The modern approach seemed to detract rather than enhance the classic flavors.
On a brighter note, the focaccia was enjoyable, though slightly overcooked. The service was friendly and attentive, which helped offset the kitchen's shortcomings, and the prices were reasonable.
In conclusion, our experience was mixed. I'm giving three stars mainly for the service and pricing, but the dishes, particularly the modernized octopus, didn’t quite hit the mark. We hope the kitchen can refine these creative touches...

I mean foreing might like it soft, but we were all italians.. the chef supposedly so... and he overcooked the pasta.. the sauce was nice.. but hey.. shame.. 25€ each for 1 dish of pasta each and 1/2 secondo to share.. however, 1 of them was a sausage.. literally 1 fkng sausage.. and for the kind price of 11€... i mean the tighter butcher would have sold that for 1.5€ oh, by the way, the focaccia bread that they brought us to the table (in many places hosts give it as bread, and for free...) was charged 4€ all in all, not that expensive, but still... won't go back.. defo not...
