A Tourist Trap Disguised as Authenticity – Save Yourself the Disappointment and Money!
I rarely write reviews, but after this experience, I feel compelled to warn others. We fell for the same story we read in other reviews: a man on a bike approached us in German, noticing our f license plates from a German-speaking country. He claimed his grandpa, from a nearby city to our home, was making local Lemon products from garden here. As tourists, we were excited to try something authentic and local and to meet his grandpa
When we arrived, there was no grandpa, just a bar with no menu or prices. The man tried to break the ice by offering drinks directly, and we, wanting to be polite, went along with it. So far, it felt awkward but harmless.
Then came the food disaster. We ordered lasagna and knokie. We heard the microwave sound, and sure enough, the lasagna was raw in the middle, while the outer parts were overcooked. The "knokie" was the same . It was clear the food was microwaved and poorly prepared. The taste was awful.
The worst part? As they asked us to take olive oil we refused ,since we had already bought it from another local farmer. Then everything changed and we were presented with a bill of 45 Euro! And here we got microwaved, tasteless and inedible food.
Save yourself the disappointment and money. Go to a good, reputable restaurant instead. You’ll get quality and more food and a pleasant experience for the same price. This place is a TOURIST TRAP
Honestly, if they were upfront about being a local spot and delivered good food and drinks, we’d have no issue supporting them. But this was a dishonest, overpriced, and downright terrible experience. Avoid...
Read moreWe really love local venues in a not busy and touristical area. We started to hike around Termini and we just found that place on Google Maps so that was our first stop on half way. Unfortunately we believed for the good comments abour the service and price. But we experienced the worst. We arrived there happily. He asked us where we’d like to take a seat. No menu, no prices. We were stupid not to ask the prices and also we missed to be very clear and concrete and more decisive about what we wanted to eat: we asked one plate but we got three. We said maybe we will eat ravioli after but he gave us immediately after our starters. We ate a sfogliatelle drank two espressos and limoncello spritz. During the time twice his son and once he himself offered us their OTHER family business: the boat trip to Capri. Well I said them we’re gonna think about it - that’s how I could stop them. So all of these were 65,50€. JOKE! We feel ourselves super stupid that we let us being welcomed as tourists there. The man and his wife are cute, really. So it’s sad that I should write that bad review. I recommend that place because of it’s local vibez and with the fresh food but please BE CAREFUL AND ASK THE PRICES BEFORE YOU ORDER! And also BE CLEAR AND CONCRETE: say what you really want to order and say no if you don’t want something. Do not use “maybe” and do not react for everything he offers you because he’s gonna think that...
Read moreNice family, made our day on the way from Sorento to Positano. All and all great advice and tasty light food and drinks with local products. The reviews here vary very much (luckily we didn’t read them before) I guess it depends on your situation. I can definitely say that this family made our day. The nephew (jovani) saw us in the main square and kindly offered to show us where the best view point is, without him we would have missed it, but we believe things happen for a reason so we luckily went with his advice. Then with no obligations he said we could stop by his sister place for a coffee or snack afterwards. When we came back from the amazing trip to the lookout by the church (don’t miss it!), the offer to welcome us next to their modest kiosk was still open but not pushy. we had such a great time with them (the owner name is Enrico) sitting in the sun with delicious food and modest prices. (Just 18 euros for: lemon granite, main small dish of ravioli or tomato salad, coffee and lemon pastries). Yes, they offered to sell us their local goods as well, they have to make a living too, there is nothing wrong with that. Especially when you say no (we had no room in the hand luggage) then there is no harm done. I recommend both the trip to the lookout, and giving back to this nice community here. This is my contextual...
