La Macina — Restaurant in Massa Lubrense

We had such a lovely experience here that we came back the next day.

The restaurant is not too fancy, which made us feel comfortable.

The food was absolutely delicious!

We had the family size pizza which was enormous and super tasty. The pastas were great as well. We loved the ravioli with walnuts as well as the seafood pasta.

On our second visit we tried a fillet steak, pasta with ragu, chicken fillet and another pasta with seafood.

The chicken fillet was a little bit dry and the mushrooms that were ordered as a side dish were probably canned rather than fresh but the rest was very good.

One of the best things about this place is the friendly service. The staff was smiley and very informative despite the language barrier.

And now to the best part: For some reason we decided to walk to the restaurant from our rental house and didn't take our cars. When we wanted to go back we realized it's too dark outside, the roads are not lit and there are many curves along the way, which could make it quite dangerous.

To our amazement, the waiter offered to give us a lift back home. He and the cook drove us in two separate cars back to our place. They didn't even want to take the money we offered to pay for their kindness and superb service (We gave it to them anyway).

So we walk in and they ask us where we'd like to be seated ( group of 3 ). We pick a regular table for 4. Mind you the restaurant is empty aside for another 3 patrons sitting at a table for 4. A couple of minutes later another waiter comes in ( i guess the head waiter) and moves my wife's chair closer to mine and my daughter's saying: let's make this a bit more cozy. Then he starts chiding the other waiter for giving us a table for 4, and then separates the now unoccupied half so that he can seat more patrons ( again the restaurant is almost empty)

Fast forward 30 minutes later, they bring us the food and it was barely fitting on the table. Our feet are constantly touching underneath cause the table is meant for 2 not 3. The restaurant is still empty. We ask if we can move the other half of the table back so that we can have more room and enjoy ourselves. He said "no not possible". We finished our meals and left. The table next to us was still empty. Out of the 6 tables around us, only 1 had patrons. Check the picture....

What a stupid way to treat a customer. You gained nothing, lost my future business, and now you have a bad review. Was...

Una serata tragicomica...arriviamo al posto dopo aver prenotato, ore 20:30...l'idea era di ordinare 3 impepate di cozze e degli gnocchi alla sorrentina (8 persone)...arriva una cameriera molto gentile che ci propone dei piatti del giorno, ci lasciamo consigliare ed accettiamo le proposte modificando la nostra idea iniziale...dopo circa mezz'ora di attesa, dove non viene servito nemmeno il pane, ci viene comunicato che uno degli antipasti da loro suggerito non era più disponibile, a quel punto cambiamo il piatto e la cosa sembra risolta...attendiamo altri 15 minuti e ci viene detto che in realtà anche gli altri 2 piatti non erano disponibili, non ci siamo persi d'animo e siamo tornati sulle cozze ordinando dell'ottimo vino...dopo un'ora di attesa abbiamo chiesto al cameriere come mai ci volesse tutto questo tempo...la risposta è stata "Avete da fare?" (Sorridendo)...capisco l'umorismo ed è sempre apprezzato ma almeno un accenno al ritardo sarebbe stato gradito...intanto vediamo gli altri tavoli arrivati dopo di noi che vengono misteriosamente serviti...dopo un'ora e mezza decidiamo di andare via e chiediamo il conto, ci viene comunicato che stanno impiattando...al momento del servizio ci viene detto che la ricciola è terminata e se possono utilizzare il pesce spada, cambiando quindi 3 piatti in precedenza ordinati...a quel punto chiediamo noi cosa hanno di disponibile, optiamo per il pesce spada e attendiamo un'altra mezz'ora...finalmente i piatti arrivano e il cibo era davvero buono, complimenti allo chef, tutto squisito...ma le 2 ore di attesa senza un minimo di organizzazioni sono senza scusanti, nessuno è venuto a chiarire il motivo del ritardo, oppure pensare di offrire nel frattempo una pizza nel mezzo per stemperare l'attesa (hanno anche la pizzeria), la beffa è stato il conto...ci hanno detto che per scusarci sono stati decurtati 10 euro su un tavolo da 8...circa 1.20 a persona...nessuno ha mai fatto problemi di prezzo, semplicemente non sono in grado di gestire un servizio, da premettere che eravamo al massimo 15 tavoli...le comande venivano messe in priorità alle altre senza nessun criterio, uno dei camerieri era molto poco professionale...la ragazza è stata la più cortese e la più dispiaciuta dell'accaduto...purtroppo esperienza da non ripetere, peccato perché ribadisco che il cibo era...
