As a group of Chinese-Canadian travelers, we just finished several days of exhausting visit in the crowded Rome and Napolis city in the hot summer days in late June. and finally arrived in our Airbnb on the Puolo beach by noon after half-day commute from Rome.
Luckily, our Airbnb right next to this lovely seafood bar. We were so starving that we just walked into this closest nice bar without any Googling, and it turned out it's one of the best decisions we made in our entre trip!
They have a nice display of the fresh caught local fishes and shrimps -- nothing is better than sitting besides the sea and enjoying the breeze and seafood! We basically ordered up every species they offer, and all were amazingly good! The seafood spaghetti, lemon risotto, gnocchi were all among the best what we had in the entire trip across rome, napolis, and Malta! (And of course much better than most of what we had in Sorrento and Capri -- a restaurant needs a much higher bar to survive in the less crowded Puolo beach than Sorrento)
The second day of our trip was also my 31st birthday. With the nice experience we had in the previous day, I got back from Capri and Sorrento earlier to have my birthday dinner in Don Vito again. And maybe it's the sweet destiny, they had a freshly caught baby bluefin tuna! The chef and all staff helped me celebrate together with fresh cut tuna steak, and a big table of Italian dishes! As the birthday surprise, the chef gave me a delicious local dish of grilled tuna heart and liver and I simply loved it.
I love the people, food, ocean vibe, and everything of this bar, thanks for making up one of my best memories in this summer...
Read moreRestaurant Don Vito is an incredible find! To get to it, you need to drive down a single lane road off the main road to Sorrento. It doesn’t advertise that the restaurant sits beachside on the Mediterranean. You will also need to park a good 1/4 mile from the beach. No private vehicles are allowed down to the beach!!
When you get to the beach, you will need to seek out Don Vito’s from a number of other restaurants there.
We were very surprised that our table abutted the beach! The servers were very friendly and jovial.
The menu was diverse with many options; seafood , meat and vegetarian. We ordered a nice bottle of red wine which was moderately priced. And we ordered appetizers and a main course. All of our food was served in generous portions. But what made our experience special, our servers did not hurry us between courses. We were allowed to savor our food and wine unhurriedly.
Unfortunately, the day we ate there was cloudy. If we had been there on sunny day, the ocean would be glorious and Vesuvius would be in the background.
Overall, at terrific experience that...
Read moreWe had antipasti, two primos, one secondo and some wine and we paid €111 - that’s insane!!! We asked the waiter which secondo she recommended and she said they had a fish that could have been shared for second… and on the bills that one fish was €50!!! I could have had LOBSTER somewhere else for that price. That’s madness. The fish was not even enough for two (see photo) and we paid too much for it. They took advantage of two young tourists and that’s not fair, thus the one star. And they didn’t even offer us a coffee or a limoncello at the end since we spent that much (I’m from South of Italy and it’s a nice gesture to offer something at the...
