I am a person who always appreciates good food and I have been coming to Kardamum for the last 2 years. However, from the last few months I have seen the deterioration in quality and taste of food, especially their Sambhar. I mean being a South Indian restaurant the first preference is to always have idli sambar or dosa sambar however the quality of sambar is so substandard now that you can barely taste the flavours and it looks like a boiled soup with just veggies in it. I placed an order for food on Deliveroo a few days ago. I've included a photo of the sambhar so you can see that it's just water with no texture. The sambar was subpar, but I also ordered other things that were fine, like biryani. I brought this up to the owner when I was dining there in September as well, but she claimed that it was prepared with fewer spices in accordance with Italians, which I don't think is acceptable since Indians prefer their flavours when dining at Indian restaurants. For Italian patrons, it can be made less spicy but for Indians, it should be prepared as it should be. Spice levels can be tweaked as per individual’s liking but at least the consistency and appearance of the dish should...
Read moreI am very disappointed. I attended the Diwali festival 2024 (31 Nov 2024) there, but it was complete chaos. The event was poorly organized, especially regarding food and crowd management. (cost €35 per person)
To start with, the food arrangements were inadequate. The serving trays were often empty—I couldn’t find puri, paratha, or naan, and I still don’t know if they were even part of the dinner menu. The crowd management was equally poor, with people crammed together like a fish market in India, leaving barely any room to breathe.
When I finally managed to get some food, it was unsatisfactory. Since Kardamum is a South Indian restaurant, I expected an authentic South Indian menu. Instead, they served North Indian dishes that were undercooked. The mutter paneer, in particular, was awful—it tasted so bad that I felt nauseous.
I would never recommend this restaurant for North Indian cuisine or for hosting a festive event. I might give them one more try for South Indian dishes to see if they are better in their own specialty.
For those looking for authentic North Indian flavors in Milan, I can suggest better options that truly capture the taste of...
Read moreWe had the worst experience ever in terms of food quality. Half of the dishes served were spoiled. First we ordered dosas for the kids. The sambar served with it was spoiled. We informed them. They took it all back and gave us vegetable stew instead. Then we ordered 2 chicken curries. Kerala chicken curry and madras chicken curry. The chicken didn’t show up soon but the gravy tasted spoiled immediately. The potato inside the masala dosa was spoiled. I prefer rather being told they didn’t have the item instead of serving us spoiled items. We were 4 adults and 4 kids. It messed up our entire appetite. We couldn’t eat anymore. Adding to this there was no AC turned on or a fan. Mosquitoes in abundance. But nothing beats being served the spoiled dishes. We did not even ask for cancelling the items or not charge us for the dishes. We just paid the entire bill given to us and walked away. When paying the owner came and apologized stating the fridge was turned off or something and temp was hot for the day so it spoiled the items. Please - you own a restaurant. That is basics. You don’t serve spoiled...
