We were trying to find a good Indian restaurant to eat curry in Milano but were left very disappointed today, especially seeing this restaurant had such good reviews. We all ordered Mango Chicken Curry with Rice/Naan but the curry was wayyy too watery so there was no flavor at all and not even the tiniest bit of Mango flavor either. It also feels like they didn’t use any of the Indian key spices usually found in Curry. I’ve also had better Naan before, especially the Cheese Naan (there was almost no Cheese inside and the size was extremely small and not fluffy at all). For the Mango Curry the server apologized by himself that apparently “today” it is not the way it’s supposed to be so they shouldn’t have given it out like this in the first place, there was not even any kind of apology/price reduction. Talking about the latter, the reservation system is quite sneaky. If you reserve via Google directly (the most convenient because you just click reserve and it’s basically done), it’s just a normal reservation. However if you reserve via the lower reservation button on “Fork” you get a 30% discount on everything from the à-la-carte menu expect for beverages and courses. So, luckily I saw this and quickly changed my reservation from Google to Fork before arriving. When paying, the guy asked me where I reserved and I said on “Fork” and he did apply some discount, however he left out some of the food items and the discount percentage was lower than what was on Fork. I already knew this, especially seeing he wanted me to quickly pay, so I asked him to show me and only then did I receive the correct discount with him being annoyed about this of course, so be careful. I didn’t even receive a thank you or any of the like in the end. Also, because of the Magi curry, he wanted to give us two Cheese Naan for free which didn’t happen in the end but I didn’t wanna escalate the situation even more. The service in general did not feel very accommodating. The portion size for the price you pay is also way too small (especially for the Curry). 12€ for a really really small bowl of Curry is just you much… Overall a very disappointing experience. Maybe the curry today was really just unlucky but if not, this place is not worth going to at all. Anyway, today I can certainly only give one star. The only good thing today was the...
Read moreNot a 4+ rating, in reality should be 2+. Being an Indian myself, I’ve had a lot of high quality Indian food both in and out of India. And yes, far better etiquette as well.
It’s a family run joint with an average decor. Tables are cramped to fit maximum guests. Upon arriving for dinner, firstly the owner (male) asks “How long will you take ..?”. I mean what kind of greeting is that ? When I insisted, that it’s a funny question that I cannot answer, he says “ today it’s a busy day for us..”. and “ will you not take more than 30 mins, as we are very busy today”, then reluctantly with a funny grin, offered me a table.
Being not so amused, I sat down for dinner, only hoping for good quality food, just as in the reviews. The girl who took the order was bit more polite. To my next surprise, the starter and the main course arrives all together(within 5/6 mins)..! The bread (undercooked Garlic naan), gets cold before I even start the starter (chicken pakora). While for all other guests around me, we’re clearly served several courses separately.
Condiments (regular at all Indian restaurants) were missing from the table. I had to task agin, and arrived very late. I asked again for onion Salad, from which the lime garnish is missing, which after being asked again arrives, and charged on the bill separately (Onion Salad & Lime juice). The bottle of water was just a regular tap/Filter, and also charged. Starter was cold. Mains (khadai chicken) was barely pre-made sauce with boneless chicken. And the Garlic naan were undercooked. The 25 Euro bill had to be paid first at the counter, before I could even get to see a print.
There are far better Indian restaurants in Milan, both in etiquette as well as...
Read moreLovely management, quick service, smiles all around, BUT NOT INDIAN AT ALL! I visited this place with my wife last Friday, let it be noted that have we have lived in the UK for over a decade (A country highly influenced by this cuisine) Have been to India and Bangladesh several times, therefore to see an Indian restaurant with 747 reviews at 4.8 was a pleasant surprise. But what we were served was far from what you expect. Both the curries we ordered were watered down, bland and missing all the key flavors. No texture, body, not a hint of fresh ginger, coconut, or ground spices. The basmati felt as it if was reheated, dry and missing aroma, no cardamom or cloves and to finish it off, the Naan was thin and small, no fluffiness at all (there’s no excuse for this! Italy is the country with the best flour in the world)
All in all a very disappointing experience. I can understand you are trying not to be adventurous to cater for the delicate Italian pallet, but that is no reason to take the soul out of such...
