O-Belin — Restaurant in Moneglia

The first impression was good, but then the problems began. We weren’t told about the menu’s insufficiencies; some choices were not available and we found out about that only when we tried to order some dishes - the menu was 2 pages wide, approx. 10 dishes per page, so the waiter could’ve easily sped up the process by telling about what is available and what is not.

Then, 1 of the 7 starters arrived to the table really late, of which we had to notify the staff. My starter (fried bread ”Portofino style” - bread, pesto, and tomato sauce), which 2 other people from our table took, was somewhat uncooked, and didn’t match the overall grading of the restaurant. We were given a free bottle of wine for this, which was a nice and appreciated gesture.

The quality of the seconds varied, some looked and tasted extremely good, but others not that much. One dish (potatoes and calamari) looked like it came from a fast food restaurant, and was too salty.

Maybe not the best place for tourists, the service sometimes seemed to be in favor of the locals: in order to get a hold of a waiter, and then get a bottle of water, took a total...

This is a hidden gem! O-Belin is right off the main drag of in town and sits on the water. We went to dinner as the sun was setting and the ambiance was amazing. The restaurant has an awesome vibe and the staff is very welcoming. Simone and Eleonora own the restaurant and they could not have been more accommodating. Their wonderful daughter Vittoria also helps serve the tables. The food was fantastic! The cream sauce on the cod was delicious! The lightly fried calamari was perfect. The mussels were to die for. Amazing restaurant on the beach with great views and decor. There are not too many dishes on the menu which I loved because everything was made fresh to order and tasted delicious! We had amazing fish and seafood. It was so good we came back for lunch the next day to try the pastas which were equally as good. The service was wonderful and friendly. The manager even managed to make my wife a Campari she liked! Something that I had been trying for years! Will definitely come back next time...
