Of six days in monopoli, we ate here five times. And that one time we didn’t eat here, it was only because we we’re too late for lunch.
Someone on Google said, this was the best pasta they ever had. We thought they were exaggerating, but we were wrong. The pasta was amazing. It put every pasta we had so far to shame. It makes the thought of returning home and eating pasta somewhere else nothing less than depressing. Somehow we have to accept that we will most likely not have better pasta than this one until we return, which we will, in major parts for spaghetti d’Italia.
The handmade pasta is amazing. Fresh, al dente and coated in the most amazing sauces. We had a luxurious Bolognese with perfectly tender meat and bright tones of tomato. An outrageously creamy carbonara, light and full of flavour at the same time. A sauce of salsiccia and mixed mushrooms to die for and the most decadent, creamy cloud of tiramisu we have ever had.
The prices are certainly a bit higher. But this isn’t your regular pasta restaurant. Don’t be fooled by the casual ambiance, the super relaxed atmosphere - the food itself is nothing less than an experience worth much more than the given price tag. If you do one thing in monopoli - eat Antonio’s pasta.
The hosts are super nice and helpful, explained their entire menu, ingredients and offered customisation. The service was excellent and always a pleasure and they gave us tips on how to avoid rush hour in the restaurant (try between 2 and 3 pm). They even took their time to give us great tips about monopoli. In short: if you’re looking for great service, amazing pasta and feeling like home while abroad: you have to stop by...
Read moreThe waitress told us in a rude and impersonal way that the restaurant was full and walked right off. We didn't even get a chance to ask her about any reservation options or whatever for a potential future visit. We walked all the way over with three hungry kids. No matter how busy, I always appreciate people staying human and friendly towards others. We will not come back and try the supposedly high rated food. Also, it's located in a boring region. --- I knew it was an open goal to go for the three hungry kids without reservation comment. It makes me laugh the restaurant doesn't write a word about the inhumane way the waitress almost ignored us. Maybe you should do something about you understaffing. Or find an allround waitress, that is capable of giving a smile and inform about the reservation options. How low can you go, person that commented on my review 😂 Oh, and for your peace of mind: we found a lovely and delicious spot quite quickly! I actually never give negative reviews because we are all human and make mistakes. I don't consider it to be fair for hard working people in this world. But in your case I felt the urge to make an exception. And looking at your reply to me I don't regret it....
Read moreI dined at this restaurant on September 26th with a group of 8 friends. We ordered a variety of drinks, including 3 Special Ginger Spritz. After a while, all the drinks arrived except for one Ginger Spritz, so I reminded the server, and they promptly brought it to us. A few minutes later, another waiter came with an additional Ginger Spritz, even though we had already received everything we ordered. I informed them that we hadn’t asked for a fourth drink, and it seemed to be sorted out at the time.
Unfortunately, when it came time to split the bill, we noticed that the Special Ginger Spritz (€6 on the menu) was listed as "Bevanda" at €8, charging us extra for a drink we didn't order.
Update: the situation was nicely managed by the restaurant
Additionally, an Aperol Spritz, which none of us had requested or received, was also added to the bill. These errors left us with a sour impression of what could have otherwise been a pleasant evening.
Overall, a frustrating experience due to the mistakes...
