Ristorante La Terrasse — Restaurant in Monte San Savino

I don't normally post negative reviews of restaurants, all have had it tough during covid and anything service related is usually attributed to staff shortages. This place though I need to say something. Firstly, the food; above average, some dishes were excellent. Aside from a horrendous red prawn carbonara (more on that later) the octopus entree was slow cooked perfectly and finished with good char, the eggplant pasta primi was amazing, had never tried that dish before and it was very delicious.

Some caveats: We were a group of 20 (half of which were kids from 6-13) and were 10 minutes late (730pm booking) to our reservation on a Friday night.

When we arrived the place was empty and remained empty in the indoor area we were seated, mildly surprising but anyways. As soon as we sat down the the waitress was asking us to order and hurrying us along. Maybe the chefs wanted an early night, who knows? Or maybe they wanted to get our 20 pax order out of the way before it got peak busy. So we had our orders in before 8pm, in Italy this is fine. Regardless, we felt extremely rushed, with waitresses clearing plates before food was even finished. What I cannot forgive is the general attitude towards us as if we were an inconvenience to them; that we were not the fancy group of 20 adults they were expecting, even though in our booking we had requested a high chair. That as my 3 year old son was a bit bored so I carried him for a walk downstairs to the outdoor terrace and was informed by the waitress to "watch my child as there are many customers outside" almost insinuating I was going to let him loose and run wild. That when I returned the other waitress had tried to clear my 1/4 eaten osso-bucco even though my cutlery clearly was not in anyway suggesting it was finished (family members had to stop her). Quite clearly, this place does not welcome families, or maybe they do not welcome non-Italians?

Judging by the clientele walking through the doors, it seems like a nice impress your date kind of place on the outdoor terrace overlooking the views. Fair enough, but if you do not welcome large groups or groups with kids, just let us know and this is fine, we will dine elsewhere.

If you're coming here for that and you're Caucasian I'm sure you'll have a lovely time, otherwise....

Onto the worst dish I may have eaten at an Italian restaurant anywhere, the "red prawns" carbonara with zucchini flowers and lime. NEVER have I eaten a prawn pasta dish to find that the garnish is a small prawn head, with no meat to be found! This dish was try, over-seasoned, no prawn flavour, couldn't see the zucchini flowers... Maybe the local style here is to not use quality eggs and pecorino to make the the dish? Who knows but it was inedible and I cannot fathom how the kitchen could put out some fantastic dishes yet let something like this slide...

Veramente delusa. E da 3 anni Che adiamo ogni anno per la buona cucina. E ieri siamo stati in famiglia' a 4 e due Bambini 11 mese et 4 anni. L acoglienza Della signora, vergognoso,si vedeva Che non aveva voglia Di lavorare, da l inizio comincio prendendo l ordinazione fredissima, Poi li dava noia il passegino,(il ristorante vuoto cera un solo tavolo) poi li dava fastidio i Bambini Che non facevano niente. cera solo il nostro tavolo e una tavola con una coppia e una bambina Li abbiamo quiesto se abbiamo disturbato e anno detto certo Che no. Siamo andatti via immédiatamento senza mangiare, dal comportemente sgradevole . Non metteremo mai più i piedi si Come i Bambini non sono graditi. Comunque grazie a lei siamo andatti a mangiare a un altro ristorante e abbiamo mangianto benissimo e a metta prezzo e serviti da camerieri fantastici.

Sono andato a cena dopo aver visto alcune foto del locale e delle belle foto dei piatti che presentavano sul sito. Il locale si, è carino, non da rimanere estasiati ma si, bello, per quanto riguarda il cibo invece non ci siamo proprio. Sono proprio partito da casa con l'idea di mangiare quei bei tagliolini al tartufo nero "pregiato" visti in foto, e quando mi ha servito quelli in foto scattata da me, con panna e salsa tartufata del supermercato vicino, per la modesta cifra di 20 euro, beh, stendiamo un velo pietoso. L'antipasto toscano, due fette di affettato, sempre di supermercato, due piccoli crostini di pancarré rotondi uno con salsa di pomodoro e l'altro con paté di fegato e una striscetta di modesto pecorino. Il secondo, l'ossobuco, niente di che. Riassumendo, in due abbiamo mangiato un antipasto, un primo e un secondo, dividendo tutto a metà, una bottiglia di vino rosso, unica a salvarsi, 2 caffè per la modica cifra di 100 euro, poi magicamente scontate a 90, senza presentare il conto ma solo lo scontrino del bancomat. Da signore che sono ho pagato senza dire nulla ma non ci siamo proprio, oltre che non tornare ilconto, qui non è tornato niente. SCONSIGLIO VIVAMENTE. Aggiungo, all'indomani, vista la onesta recensione, mi ha chiamato il titolare insultandomi e dandomi del cretino, e per finire mi ha detto pezzente, se non hai soldi stai a casa. Allego foto...
