Cantinale — Restaurant in Monteriggioni

Wine tasting with tour of the vineyard (it's right next to the restaurant) and the wine cellar that's adjacent to the restaurant. We had a very nice guide that answered all of our questions and gave us a thorough explanation of how their different wines are made. Back to the restaurant for a tasting, different wines and a wonderful selection of Tuscan antipasti. Delicious! The wines are really splendid! Our guide gave us the information about the wines and then stepped out of the room, allowing us to chit chat about the wine, food by ourselves, then he returned with a different wine and answered any questions we might have had. After the tasting we decided to have dinner. And we didn't regret it! Everything, from the bread, the small appetizer of tomato cream with basil and croutons, the tagliati, together with the Chianti Riserva. Amazing! Such attention to quality and friendly staff. The food experience was really good. The dishes were simple, in the positive sense, and therefore, delicious. Fresh fennel, good quality seafood, some orange, and voilà a perfect plate. Simplicity is a good and if the ingredients are high quality, there is absolutely no need to fancy it up. And if you like this kind of food, Cantinale will give it to you.

Apart from the quality of food, staff deserve a big thank you. They were very professional and friendly at the same time. While leaving, my friend and I stopped by the kitchen and were very happy to see three smiling women working in there.

Just one suggestion: it's too light in the restaurant! Can you dim the lights down a little bit please? 😊 I think this would level up the atmosphere...

What a gem!! Phenomenal experience. Randomly stopped on the way from Florence to Siena and were completely blown away with the food. Wonderful service and a simple but lovely atmosphere. And the food was incredible (like it should be a Michelin Bib Gourmand or Michelin Plate restaurant). We had croquettes and 4 different pastas — truffle, beef ragu, cuttlefish ink and spinach ricotta — and the flavors and presentation were amazing. For dessert we had tiramisu, chocolate mousse and cheesecake and all were beautiful and delicious. And their wine complemented the meal beautifully. Can’t recommend this...
