I regret spending my New Year’s Eve at Ciro a Mergellina Ristorante, as it was an absolute disaster from start to finish. The experience was profoundly disappointing and utterly not worth the exorbitant price they charged.
To begin with, the communication before the event was terrible. There was no clear information about what was included or what to expect, leaving guests confused and unprepared. This lack of organization foreshadowed what would turn out to be a poorly executed evening.
The food was a complete letdown. The presentation was uninspired, far below expectations for such an event, and the taste was bland and unremarkable. For a venue that claims to be high-end, the quality was shockingly poor and felt like a slap in the face considering the cost.
Adding to the disappointment, not even a single glass of Spumante was provided for the midnight toast. Instead, we were expected to purchase a bottle for an outrageous 500 euros. This blatant price gouging left a bitter impression and overshadowed any small positives the evening might have had.
The overall experience was abysmal—lacking atmosphere, warmth, and basic hospitality. This is not a venue I would recommend to anyone, and I certainly won’t be returning. If you’re considering celebrating a special occasion at Ciro a Mergellina Ristorante, save yourself the frustration, disappointment, and unnecessary expense by looking elsewhere.
This was a New Year’s Eve to forget....
Read moreIf i could give 0 stars i would. In 26 years of my life I have been many many different restraunts and I've never had to give a bad review. The service was unbelievably bad, we were mistreated and disrespected. Never have I felt so uncomfortable at a place where I am paying alot of money to eat..
The pasta was hard and the starter was full of grease.
The only positive thing from the experience was that I was given a refund for my spaghetti for what looked like a hair in it. The waiter just told me that he didn't know what it was.
After that the waitors continued to look and laugh at us. Worst of all when I went to pay the lady at the back on the counter she slapped my bank card on the counter away from where I was stood , didnt say a word to me and continued to laugh and talk about us to her work colleagues.
Never have i felt so uncomfortable in my life. With a person who suffers from anxitey this was a truly horrible experience. Genuinely.the only thing good was the water and even that was overpriced. Very very rude the woman is one of the most unprofessional people I have ever met , if you want to talk about the customer at least wait until they have gone, absolutely shocking. The worst experience I had in my whole journey in Italy. Disappointing as it genuinely looks lovely from the outside, I'm offended I was made to feel so out of place and made me never want to come back to...
Read moreWe went here taking a punt, reading prior reviews assuming even though service was average food would still be great. We were sadly dissapointed. All we'd thought of all day was vongole and unfortunately while the flavours were there, it was intensely sandy. We had a great bottle of wine so decided to taste dessert, alas we were taken back to the nineties, not even gelati and fruit could please the senses. I don't know if they were trying to please tourists or punish tourists but whatever they were doing wasn't working. The waiter was lovely, but the service charge of 12% matched with unordered items on the bill when we made an effort to speak the language and order a 35 euro bottle of wine was unwarranted. All we wanted was beautiful seafood with a lovely view and we were so mistaken heading here. Head across the road and get a pizza for 2.50 from the lady smoking a ciggie whilst serving it over wasting you cash...
