DO NOT COME HERE WITH DIETARY REQUIREMENTS!!!
What started off with high hopes ended in a bitter aftertaste. We made a reservation on a one week notice. Unfortunately I struggle digesting seafood and we had therefore notified the restaurant, in what we think is a timely manner. We chose the chef's free hand menu (not a set menu like the other two options) as we felt this would allow us to be surprised. Most, if not all, Michelin Star restaurant would be able to create a menu catering for dietary requirements, and we thought they would too, as they requested them whilst making the booking. It was therefore extremely disappointing to be told in a rather blunt manner that we would have to choose a la carte, because the chef will not cater for my dietary requirements. This meant we would have max 4 dishes rather than the 7 we expected, as well as no wine pairing. The food itself was good, but inconsistent in quality ranging between bib gourmand and one Michelin star quality. This is the 14th time going to a Michelin recognised restaurant and the first time my dietary requirements were just completely put aside. There was zero communication although we booked a week in advance. We were made to feel like it was our fault as they said it was a seafood restaurant (there is no mention of this anywhere on the website!!!!). If you are made to feel like it is your fault for having dietary requirements and therefore you are not entitled to be treated as an equal guest you should not receive a Michelin star. Whether it is religion, allergies or any other reason, a fine-dining restaurant should be able to adapt, or at least ensure the guest is informed in a proper and timely manner as to allow them to decide what they will do, and not on the night itself. The price we paid for 4 courses and a bottle of wine was 318 euros. We were not charged for our glasses of sparkling wine, and our coffee, which we assume was...
Read moreWe made a reservation a week before indicating our preference for a tasting menu with wine pairing and allergies of one of us. After being seated we were told veritas to be a fish restaurant and the chef was not able to make a tasting menu taking into consideration the allergies, basically no fish. We were told we could only go a la carte and were left with the menu. For all courses one meat dish is available, no vegetarian options. We tasted good food, nice dishes, apart from the secundi, veal, the accompanying sauce was very prominent, the vegetables disappeared in it. Since we had no menu also no wine pairing, instead we enjoyed a nice local wine, recommendation of the sommelier. The bill took some 20 min to arrive, and only after a reminder. All in all we feel a little let down. We would have liked to be informed straight upon our reservation, tasting menus with our allergies not to be possible. It would have left us with a choice still go to veritas or go somewhere else. For it is the first time we visit a Michelin star restaurant in Napels, we are lucky to have several here, actually veritas was the last of these restaurants in Napels we visited, that is not able to deal with the fish allergy in a pre fixed menu. Than having to wait for the bill…. We ended up with 3 stars, here, and do not feel we had a 1 star Michelin worth evening. Guest experience is an all in package, but as said before, we feel a...
Read moreFirst, of all I want to say that we really wanted to like the restaurant. The food was good, the wine pairing was on point. But, the overall experience was completely ruined.
Upon arrival we were seated in a corner table opposite from the entrance. I couldn’t have noticed a strong smell that was overwhelming. It smelled like an air freshener that you can find in a railroad station bathroom. It was so strong that it simply blocked any other senses. And no, I'm not being dramatic. At first we suspected that we were seated too close to the bathrooms and the smell is coming from there, but soon I found a Glade air freshener plugged behind our table. We asked to remove it but it wasn’t until the end of the dinner when the smell finally aired out. I can tell that the other patrons were experiencing the same, with another couple saying something like "smells like a bathroom".
I can't imagine any restaurant that won't understand that strong smells should not be present in a dinning room, yet this Michelin star restaurant didn't think about it (more like didn't care). At the end of a night we paid €400 to dine in what smelled like a public bathroom.
I shared this feedback with the restaurant directly, but...
