In response to the restaurants rude and distasteful response to the prior customers experience:
We can only verify that the food here was very mediocre. By the end of our meal we wondered if we would have food poisoning. The fish did not seem fresh and the food tasted like it was prepared days ago. We suspect that if the Sardinian food standards authority paid a visit, this place would be shut down.
Furthermore, we asked a few other restaurants in Porto Rotondo what they thought of the food at Gala, and most of them replied with the timeless gesture of fingers in the throat. They also mentioned that their positive reviews are largely fake.
As for the restaurant claiming that the guests complained only for a discount and that the food was not finished, the fotos clearly suggest otherwise. From our perspective, this was also the worst food we had in Sardinia.
My suggestion to the restaurant: When you have guests that know about food and restaurants you should gracefully accept feedback and try to improve, not create a fantasy about people wanting a discount. People who stay in Porto Rotondo don’t need discounts - for good food are always willing to pay up.
NB: TripAdvisor rated this restaurant 3.5 stars. We should have checked before booking.
Update: Yet another laughable response filled with desperation. Sad that you have to lie like a sorry, bitter little man.
None of us were English or Sicilian (funny that you came up with that combination, it sounds like a joke). There was one other table at the restaurant (now we know why), so as for creating attention, that makes no sense. If this is true post your booking schedule for the evening, we guess you won’t, because it’s empty.
You offered the discount after we said the food was not very good: a) The excess oil in the pasta, b) the watery liquid around the fish, c) the not fresh tasting raw fish etc. If you now regret it, post your bank details and we will transfer the additional funds. We really don’t need a discount.
Ask Gianni Al Molo what they think of your food. They will no doubt repeat the finger in throat gesture. They were full, you had 1 booking. Customers there mentioned your fake reviews.
If you don’t need to defend yourself by libeling your customers, then why bother responding to the review. If your restaurant was full or any good, then why lie about us asking for a discount. Your precious mother must be proud.
TripAdvisor still rates you at 3.5 stars. Did all of those customers who made the same complaints lie as well. The facts speak for themselves.
Grow up and don’t be a sad,...
Read moreThis was the worst food experience so far in Sardinia and Porto Rotondo. The vongole was terrible, swimming in oil. Never tasted one so awful. Fish had liquid around it, no taste. The service was lovely and I feel sorry for the guy who served us,he was quite good. Just the food was horrible. Look for yourself. The restaurant claimed that we complained because we wanted a discount, which by the way they didn’t grant, they only removed 3 dishes that were not good and we still paid €220. But no, we dine twice a day at restaurants and always leaving positive reviews, but when it’s bad, it’s bad and I cannot skip by not letting other people know. People who dine at Costa Smeralda, do not need pity discounts. But charging for these kind of dishes is a complete disgrace. Across the Porto local people mentioned that Galaa is a tourist trap and the food is nothing to do with Sardinian typical cuisine. Shame on you, instead of recognising that your food is not up to the standards and your prices, you decide to criticise people who share actual photos of how the food looks. This just proves that they are not willing to accept criticism and improve. As per your rude response that from being from United Kingdom I can’t teach you how to cook fish, let me tell that I have way more experience and connection to Italy that you can notice from your poor judgement. Maybe you should learn from Sicilians how to properly cook fish, as clearly, yours is worse than in the...
Read moreThis was by far the worst food we had in Sardinia. In fact it was the worst Vongole I have ever had! They did comp the vongole at the end after we complained (probably because they tasted how awful it was) The waiter was lovely though. If you have taste buds, I wouldn’t eat here. As for the response to the rude (and untrue) reply below, you can see the other restaurants I’ve left great reviews for in Sardinia for amazing...
