La Taverna — Restaurant in Orbetello

If I could give zero star, I definitely would. I've been in Orbetello many times as my missus from here, so I've visited many restaurants, pizzerias, but la taverna has been the worst so far. The staff, especially the female waitress, is the most unfriendly, unprofessional person I've met in this town. She has not been smiling or welcoming at all. The owner was running like a headless chicken. It seemed to be that he had no idea what he was doing. My pizza was ok. Nothing more, nothing less, but the mushrooms were slimy and definitely from a can. Basically, I've had better frozen pizza from a shop. The tables are set right on the walking path, so random members of the public are constantly staring at us and stopping for a chat. It's unpleasant. The whole place is an absolute mess, really. There are many more lovely places in and around Orbetello. I definitely don't recommend this s.... hole. Don't give your money to this bunch of unprofessional ppl. Ate there tonight with no reservation. The staff were very friendly, service was incredibly fast and efficient. The restaurant was full of locals out of season, and there were ourselves and table of 4 French people as well. We ordered fritto misto fish to start with and share between us, followed by four pizzas which would have been a meal in themselves, tiramisu and panna cottas for pudding, coffees, a litre of sparkling wine and 2 bottles of water. The bill came to €82 which included the cover charge! What a bargain - try getting that deal in London; just over £15 a head! Highly recommended, it's small but...

Passeggiando per le vie di Orbetello con amici, ci imbattiamo nella Taverna. L’avventore, davanti alla pizzeria già gremita di clienti, ci invita a sederci. Considerata l’ora, decidiamo di accettare, non senza qualche titubanza. Ci viene preparato il tavolo fuori e iniziamo l’attesa. Premetto che abbiamo dovuto richiamare più volte il cameriere affinché terminasse di apparecchiare e ci portasse almeno da bere, considerata la temperatura di 30 gradi. Il proprietario correva avanti e indietro, apparecchiando altri tavoli e cercando di attirare altri clienti che passavano per la strada affollata, con la maglietta fradicia di sudore fino alla cintola. Dopo un’ora di attesa, vedendo che tutti i tavoli intorno a noi venivano serviti prima e anche le ultime pizze d’asporto erano state sfornate, decidiamo di chiedere spiegazioni: avevano perso l’ordinazione!! Recuperato tutto, dopo un’ora e un quarto, portano la prima pizza, (erano le 22.30) senza la farcitura che era stata richiesta. Il piatto viene sbattuto sul tavolo di malagrazia, indisponendoci. Alle rimostranze della cliente, che avrebbe voluto essere informata, per avere la possibilità di scegliere altro, il titolare, che ci stava servendo, si giustifica dicendo che “a fine serata posso mancare alcuni ingredienti: questa sera è così, se vi va, altrimenti andate via…” ci alziamo tutti prontamente. Siamo persone che hanno grande rispetto per chi lavora, ma questo comportamento sgarbato ed cafone è stato inaccettabile e non ha scusanti, specialmente da un ristoratore verso un cliente. Sarebbe bastato un altro tono e la fame avrebbe avuto il sopravvento. Consiglio comunque di fare un giro nelle sale interne e nel bagno, dove regna...
