Ristorante Suruq — Restaurant in Pachino

8 of us went for impromptu supper. We chose the restaurant as we were early for evening dinner…. Most of the other restaurants in the square were empty… this restaurant already had people at a few tables, people looked local. Beautiful location in the picturesque square of the old town overlooked by the old church. We loved the Italian evening ambiance of string in the courtyard. Our first choice of both red and white wines weren’t available. Our waiter was very helpful with English translations. My meal was superb. I had the L’aasaggio di Mara for antipasti, and linguini com gambero off the specials board for a main. All friends were very happy with their meals except for the spaghetti com vongole which was not well cooked (friend was too polite to elaborate and just left food untouched and covered with a napkin). Riuscire a cucinare le busiate solo a metà ( nel senso che metà era cotta e metà letteralmente cruda) è certo una abilità davvero rara. Giustificare la cosa affermando che è perché le busiate sono irregolari e cuociono un po' si e un po' no ricorda,in brutto, la storia di Chichibio! Tutto ciò non rende onore al locale né all'intelligenza della gestione che,nonostante le osservazioni, ha comunque fatto un conto " ben cotto". Si aggiunga che un calice ( letteralmente 2 dita, ripeto:letteralmente) di vino sfuso costa " soli" 4 € e che i calamari non erano certo speciali...e si valuti. Purtroppo la sensazione è anche gli altri locali di questo ex bellissimo borgo di pescatori non offrano molto di meglio. È molto elegante da parte Vs. insinuare che chi beve con moderazione sia in realtà un " morto di fame" che non vuole ( o non può) spendere per una bottiglia. Purtroppo per Voi non è il mio caso considerato anche che mi onoro di appartenere alla ristretta cerchia dei Cavalieri di Barolo e trascorro gran parte della mia vita in viaggi di piacere frequentando ristoranti di eccellenza e purtroppo anche quelli come il Vs. In ogni caso non mi interessano le polemiche per simili quisquilie. Mi permetto solo di osservare che intelligenza vorrebbe che le critiche fossero gradite al fine di migliorarsi costantemente. This was our best meal experience, after trying other places we returned again and didn't regret it. Salads with seafood are a must. Best pasta! Suruq pistachio pasta is now my world best pasta benchmark! Great service, very prompt and attentive, all waiters spoke English. We wanted to share a canolli and they beautifully it up for us.
