Al Cantastorie — Restaurant in Palermo

So probably the worst review I've given so far. I am not the worlds biggest fan of sea food. That said I really enjoy good sushi. Went there on a Saturday night with a group of 7. As we walked in...1) the smell of fish...not good 2) restaurant 80% empty....not good 3) tried to seat us at a corner table with bunch of flying insects overhead... not good...we quickly chose another area. 4) appetizer: group ordered oysters...I didn't try them...looked offputting and dirty. Calamari frozen and not local... not that good. The sliced salmon drizzled with olive oil...ehhhh 5) group wanted to order spaghetti con Ricci (sea urchin)...waiter says only has enough to make one large portion to share...bad sign...was expressly told little garlic, not spicy... came out full of garlic and peperocino...pasta was left..most didn't want to finish it.. 5) seafood risotto ordered... rice was prepared in advance...undercooked seafood added after the fact... 6) having caught a whiff of the fish on entry seeing how dead the place was I ordered the only logical thing... a margherita pizza with mushrooms (it was good..but not great)

We came here because members of our group were locals, had eaten here in the past, and were even known by the staff... that said, my group will not return there again...my recommendation: go out for a freshly made pizza instead, and then go to a nice gelateria...

It’s the fourth time in a couple of years we have dinner in this restaurant. It never let us down. From the outstanding service (a plause to the waiter) to the extremely fresh seafood they serve. Raw sea urchins, marinated raw prawns (mind blowing), mussels and clams soup, fried squids, swordfish caponata and so on. I would advice the “Fettucine Cantastorie”. Selections of fresh fish to grill or fry. But leave some space for the dessert: Cassata, Cassata al Forno, Gelo di Mellone (according to the season). The price is absolutely competitive considering the quality and freshness of the fish and how it is prepared. A place to visit if you’re looking for a non-touristic, authentic...

Service DÉPLORABLE et ESCROCS !!!! Serveurs antipathiques et méprisant, TRES DÉSAGRÉABLES, et désorganisés, jamais le même qui venait à notre table, ils ne suivaient pas du tout l’ordre des plats que nous avons dû attendre une éternité pour certains… et pas dans le bon ordre… On aurait dit qu’ils le faisait exprès… des vrais saloperies pour rester poli !!!!!! Méfiez-vous pour commencer, lorsque vous arrivez, ils posent d’office une bouteille d’eau sur la table, sans que vous l’ayez demander, et qui vous ai facturé bien sûr et au prix fort, nourriture très très moyenne, voir PAS BONNE pour certains plats !!!certains plats trop trop salés limite immangeable, risotto qui n’en était pas un…mais une vulgaire soupe au riz, et pour couronner le tout arnaque à l’addition … méfiez vous car ils sont très roublards, ils font exprès de pas vous capter quand vous leur demandez des précisions sur le menu( qui est incompréhensible), pour ensuite vous apporter n’importe quoi sur la table et vous le facturer a prix d’or!!!! Nous avons commandé un Frito Misto(indiqué 15€ sur le menu), ils nous ont apporté trois assiettes, et au final sur l’addition, on s’est retrouvé avec 32 euros pour le fritto-misto théoriquement à 15,00€. Mais alors pour finir, nous avions demandé juste un renseignement sur des « fruits » sans aucune autre précision qui étaient proposés en Dessert, sans qu’il ne soit indiqué la manière dont ils était servi ou préparé… nous nous sommes retrouvés avec une assiette de fruits tranchés insipides, sans aucun goût, de la flotte …..facturé 20 € l’assiette … alors que nous voulions juste un renseignement. Ils ont fait semblant de pas comprendre ce qu’on leur demandait, et 15mn plus tard, nous nous sommes retrouvés avec cette assiette qui a fallu que nous payons ensuite bien sûr, alors que nous l’avions pas demandé ….Bref des escrocs!!!!
