Fantastic find in Pescara! After a day of travelling, delays, heat and humidity to arrive in Pescara and find that few restaurants were open (Covid combined with it being a Monday) we just about gave up and were ready to get a supermarket sandwich. After one last Google search and a phone call, we were sitting down at Osteria del Pepe Nero. With a pretty unassuming exterior on a busy street we thought it would be ok but what a treat it turned out to be. Tagliata Black Angus with rucola, tiny tomatoes and parmesan shavings was cooked to perfection, the mix of flavours an absolute delight. Combined with rosemary roast potatoes it was the meal I wanted but just didn't know it. My daughter had Chitarra all'Amatriciana and was equally as delighted with her choice, a simple but flavourful tomato sauce with guanciale strips on top (although she did say that we'd have to return so that she could have the tagliata the next time!). I highly recommend a visit to Osteria del Pepe Nero, you'll definitely be...
Read moreGreat find on a rainy day! This gem of a restaurant was on our way to the Pescara Centrale. We literally stopped and asked if they had a table for two without reservation and they immediately accommodated us. The food was delicious, we had fresh pasta alla matriciana and Al Bolognese, extremely flavourful, followed by arrosticini and patata al forno with rosemary. While we waited, bread basket with Evoo and kalamatta olives and tarallini. A quarter ltr of Montepulcino d'Abruzzo rosso and ltr bottled water and two espresso..... Service well paced and not intrusive at all. This hospitality for €43 including cover charge. Very well served👏👏👏 and thank you for letting us in from the rain...
Read moreThe restaurant is not located along the main street in the city center, so it may not be the obvious choice, but it is definitely a GREAT CHOICE! We were tempted by the reviews published here and the fact that the restaurant was close to our accommodation.
It was definitely worth it!
The place is... unassuming? But the food here is the best we've had in Pescara and one of the best we've had in Italy. Even if you're staying on the other side of town, you should definitely come and try the food...
