Osteria L'Ubaldino — Restaurant in Piombino

ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!!! My fiance happened to see this place down the street as we were finding most places closed after 9pm on Tuesday. A tatoed guy that appeared to be the owner came up and, although he didn't speak english fluently, he did his best to explain the entire menu to us in English (recently coming out of France where they just about refuse to speak english, this impressed the hell out of us, lol). The guy offered us an apperative of white wine, and we orered a simple meant plate and a side of vegetables. WOW IT WAS SO YUMMY!!! I can't even believe how good the vegetables were, and tried to figure out why... I think they were cooked with olive oil and garlic or something, but WOW. Then the steak had a sauce on it with whole pepper kernels... OMG, YUM! I've never had that before, the whole place was just such a good experience for us after a bad experience in France. And to top it all off, the guy didn't even charge us for the apperatives leaving the bill at only 24 euros. First time I experienced a dinner under 25, ha! Wow, this place is amazing... If you're waiting on a boat for Elba like us and have time, visit this incredible...

Food was amazing. After a long day trip we were looking for anywhere to eat and stumbled into this place. The staff was attentive and super friendly. We didn't realize it was a steak house & my girlfriend is vegetarian. The chef came out of the kitchen to recommend menu items to her including showing her the differently milled pastas they offer. He even spoke some English to help us, it was unexpected and so welcoming at the same time. I had a pepper Verde steak and potatoes that were cooked to perfection! Loved our little experience here and...

In un angolo poco affollato nel centro di Piombino si trova l' Osteria L' Ubaldino....un locale che offre posti interni ed esterni ma non sulla strada, molto riservato. Premetto che ho vissuto le tre vite di questo locale da Ubaldo, (primo proprietario che ogni cosa che cucinava, anche la più elementare, la rendeva UNICA e inimitabile... io non ho più mangiato uno spaghetto al pomodoro come il suo).....ad oggi...

Il menù è breve, ma con piatti della tradizione Toscana arricchiti da note di estro e consapevolezza... sì non sono piatti "stravolti", ma nuove portate con ingredienti tipici della nostra cucina casalinga. Abbiamo mangiato pane,pasta, fatto in casa con grani antichi, burro e ricotta autoprodotto... baccalà, riccio, torta di ceci in una veste completamente inaspettata! Tutto OTTIMO! Cameriera sorridenti e cortesi, veloci nel servizio. Vini toscani di piccole cantine biologiche ma di alta qualità! I nuovi proprietari sono di origine americana...ho concluso con il cheesecake...quello vero, ma con una confettura di fichi che mi ricordava quella di nonna! FANTASTICO! Hanno unito i due mondi😉 Una cena che non mi stupiva in senso positivo con sapori conosciuti, ma resi nuovi era da molto tempo che non la facevo!
