Pizzeria bar Nuovo Da Silvio — Restaurant in Ponza

Undoubtedly the best Pizza in Ponza.

This shop is both unassuming and a hidden gem. When I spoke to the staff they told me that almost zero English speaking tourists make it around to this restaurant and they’re definitely missing out.

I came to Ponza after spending time in Rome and Napoli and this is the best pizza I have had on my trip so far. The pizzaiolo is passionate about his craft and it shows.

We came back in the morning and had a cappuccino and panini.

It’s worth the trip up the road if you’re staying in the Port area, and a no brainer to try if you are in La Forna or La Piana.

We visited Pizzeria Bar Nuovo Da Silvio four times during our stay on Ponza, twice for breakfast and twice for dinner, and always enjoyed it. The two lovely ladies who run the place are incredibly friendly and we were always so happy to see them.

For breakfast they serve homemade pastries and coffee, and you can also buy takeaway panini and small slices of pizza to take to the beach. The pizzas are very reasonably priced and tasty, especially the pizza napoletana, with a great crust and delicious toppings. Ottimo impasto della pizza, viene anche presentata bene ed è digeribile, il listino stampato invitante per scelta e prezzi competitivi, ma al dunque si risparmia molto sui condimenti e si aggiungono euro improvvisi. Sulla focaccia con bresaola, grana e Pachino mancava la grana e di bresaola ce ne erano due sottilissime fette tagliate a metà e due Pachino tagliati in 4. Avevo chiesto di non mettere la mozzarella prevista e ciò mi è costato +2€ (perché era una modifica). Nella capricciosa non c'erano il crudo e l'uovo. Il costo della crocché di patate aumentato di un'euro perché "più grande", il servizio non scritto, ma aggiunto. Morale della favola rispetto ai costi stampati, il conto è arrivato maggiorato di € 5.50. Chiedo di pagare con carta, mi viene battuto uno scontrino senza specifiche e inizia la manfrina della mancata linea. Mi si invita a prelevare al banco posta di fronte, declino l'invito e su richiesta di fare almeno un tentativo di passare la carta, la signora attacca una spina a una presa al muro e per magia funziona il pos. Non accettano prenotazioni, mentre uno cena si assiste a un via vai di persone che aspettano, che asportano, che si lamentano del non rispetto delle precedenze. Il poco personale va letteralmente in tilt, risponde che chi sta al tavolo mangia veloce e c'è poco da aspettare.
