Il Sottoscala — Restaurant in Porto Azzurro

A lovely and charming seafood restaurant run by a family that’s been doing this for a couple decades! The owner who is the head chef is truly wonderful like the rest of the staff and we loved everything we had for our dinner. Every course was mesmerizing and I truly think this restaurant has the best seafood on the island. I can totally recommend the soup that everyone has mentioned in the comments but everything else is also equally delicious. We had amazing shrimp, mussels and clams, bruschettas with anchovies and mozzarella, seafood soup, shrimp risotto and fish with potato crust. The latter was the highlight of the dinner. Abbiamo girato in lungo e in largo questa splendida isola d'Elba e abbiamo cercato di assaggiare tutti i piatti i possibili che ci sono stati consigliati. Oggi, possiamo dire con certezza che il Sottoscala è tra i posti più azzeccati del piccolo porticciolo di Porto Azzurro. È un piccolo piccolo angolo di buon cibo e ottima accoglienza. A ricevervi troverete la proprietaria, splendida padrona di casa che insieme al figlio sanno consigliare al meglio i clienti,tutto sempre accompagnato da sorrisi e tanta cortesia. Tornando al menù potrete trovare pietanze una più buona dell'altra ma noi vi consigliamo senza dubbio la zuppa di vongole cozze e moscardini,una delizia indescrivibile, sapori ben bilanciati e pesce cotto benissimo tutto annegato in un sughetto favoloso. Anche i ravioli di pesce erano superbi come anche le linguine con il nero di seppia. I dolci buoni ma sicuramente il loro forte è appunto il pesce che è cucinato in modo ineccepibile. Purtroppo non siamo riusciti a conoscere il cuoco, che abbiamo saputo fa tutto da solo e sicuramente era super indaffarato, al quale vanno tutti i nostri migliori complimenti; quando ci metti amore in quello che fai si vede e al Sottoscala lo sentirete anche in bocca! Torneremo sicuramente, ma intanto lo consigliamo a tutti coloro che amano la gentilezza e la cucina quella buona, anzi BUONISSIMA....

Was soll ich sagen, der Chefkoch bei den wir gestern persönlich den Tisch reserviert haben hat sein Handwerk gelernt. Die "Fischsuppe" ist Spitzenklasse. Die Tomatensauce "Suppe" hat ein wirklich perfektes Verhältnis zwischen Säure der Tomate und Zucker der sie erst zum Leben erweckt. Einfach nur genial. Mama Sita eben. Bessere Balance geht nicht. Diese war von Happen zu Happen genau wie man es selbst nicht hinbekommt. Der empfohle Wein hat das Geschmackserlebnis positiv begleitet. Wir hatten die Suppe für eine Person und geteilt weil wir noch ein zweites Gericht wollten. Es gab die selbst gemachten Ravioli. Das war der krönende Abschluss. Auch hier die selbstgemachte Sauce dazu ein Traum für jeden Gourmet. Eine Sterneküche könnte diesen Koch einmal im Monat als Bereicherung einplanen. Vorausgesetzt beste frische Ware. Er kauft jeden Tag frisch am morgen ein, wie er mir erzählt hat. Also reservieren, und genießen es ist jeden Cent wert.

Und zum krönenden Abschluss gab es noch ein Zitronensorbet. Für die Dame am Tisch normal und für mich mit Vodka und einen Cafe Doppio. Leider nicht...
