Il Galeone — Restaurant in Procida

We were having a great honeymoon visit to Procida until we went here.

The hotel just down the street, the Crescenzo, was amazing and has much better muscles. They were also extremely gracious and accepting of foreigners even though their main clientele were locals (AMAZING LEMON CHELLO).

The waitress at II Galenone who was working March 11th around 7:30-8pm came to us and the second she realized we were American she stopped trying to take our order even though we were pointing out items on their menu she proceed to go to another member of the staff and very vocally and with her mannerisms expressed that she did not want to serve us. At the time we were literally the only customers in the entire restaurant.

The gentleman was very nice and tried his best to serve us but the damage was done my wife had already notice the woman’s reaction and was no longer comfortable. The woman continued to freeze us out no matter how nice we were but was extremely friendly with all locals coming in.

She wasn’t having a bad night she specifically had a problem with us and made that very well known. The pizza we ordered to go was very tasty. Even though the gentleman asked if we wanted it cut, and we let him know yes as tourists we needed it cut, (we were taking it back to our room) when she brought it back both were whole pizzas not sliced.

Incredibly rude and although the pizza was great, the gentleman seemed more concerned with flirting with the rude waitress than anything.

Please not we started with Italian and spoke our best it was not a case of A-hole Americans trying to instantly speak English, we were pointing at their menu for Christ sake how hard is that!!!!

Ristorante molto caratteristico con affaccio sul porticciolo di marina di chiaiolella; dentro ambiente molto carino e semplice con acquario e riferimenti alla nave galeone. In poche parole si è mangiato divinamente, insalata di mare abbondante con ingredienti chiaramente freschi, specialmente il gambero e il polipo, e di ottimo sapore; primo di pacchero con ricciola pescato in giornata a quanto riferitoci, ed effettivamente fresco e buonissimo; orata in crosta di pane molto morbida e saporita; punto forte del menù una zuppa di cozze per una persona con tutto ciò che ci vuole (gamberoni, crostini, polipo e cozze) veramente fatta in maniera perfetta, anche il sugo. Se presa X2 persone è ancora più soddisfacente e ricca; Vino falanghina in bottiglia leggermente frizzantino, fresco e buono; e infine due dolci anche questi ben fatti e che vale la pena di prendere, ovvero semifreddo al limone e tiramisù. Il servizio attentissimo, rapidissimo e molto gentile. I prezzi non sono bassi ma sono giustificati dalla qualità, quantità e varietà, quindi ne vale assolutamente la pena. Il Galeone, a Marina della Chiaiolella, è una pizzeria molto carina, perfetta per una sosta informale dopo una giornata di mare. L’ambiente richiama le classiche pizzerie napoletane, semplice e senza troppi fronzoli: non è particolarmente moderno o giovanile, ma comunque accogliente e autentico.

Il personale è davvero il punto di forza: gentile, disponibile e velocissimo nella preparazione delle pizze da asporto, che abbiamo gustato direttamente sulla spiaggia lì accanto — un’esperienza semplice ma piacevolissima.

La pizza non segue fedelmente lo stile napoletano con il classico cornicione alto e morbido: è più sottile, spianata e leggermente più asciutta, ma comunque molto gustosa. Consigliatissime le pizze semplici o quelle con le acciughe, dove si percepisce meglio la qualità degli ingredienti.
