Ristorante Da Mariano — Restaurant in Procida

This is hands down not only the best restaurant on the island of Procida, but one of the top places I've ever eaten in all of Italy. Mariano's talents are secretly hidden on this remote island in the Tyrrehenian Sea. The food is absolutely incredible, and located in a rather unusual place on the island. Far from the center of the village, the restaurant is one of the tiniest places I've ever dined at. Right in front of the marina, it is across the island from the epicenter of everything. Far from noise and traffic, the stillness of this side of the island provides the guest with peace and quiet while they sip their house wine and dine al fresco in the warm summer eve.

The shrimp ravioli is something to marvel and possibly have seconds. I was tempted to order more - no joke. From the appetizers to the desserts, you will not be dissatisfied. This is literally some of the best food in all of Italy and you might consider going to the island just for this reason.

The staff is beyond friendly and loved getting to know Mariano and his lovely wife.

Would recommend this as one of the best places I've dined, and would love to go again...

Could not offer a table for a single person during the whole evening. I guess they only want larger groups to make more money.

The first sentence is a fact. The second sentence is indeed an opinion, properly introduced by "I guess". Now, I appreciate the reaction and increased the rating to 3 stars. But this does not change the fact that I arrived at your restaurant by 20:30, to be clear, without booking. But nowhere it's mentioned that the restaurant is booking/reservation only. All tables were empty by then and despite I was willing to wait the only answer was "no". I understand that things can be busy in summer but please update your description to "booking only" or...

Nonostante la breve esperienza con i locali procidani, siamo stati per soli tre giorni in questa bellissima isola, posso certamente dire che è stato il miglior ristorante dove ho mangiato durante questa fugace vacanza. L'accoglienza e stata ottima, il personale è attento e premuroso: ad ogni piatto ci hanno chiesto se era stato di nostro gradimento, la location é molto carina e dev'essere stata di recente "rinfrescata" perché tutto odorava di nuovo, le pietanze sono OTTIME, oltre che più generose degli altri ristoranti. Abbiamo cominciato con un antipasto da dividere in due, poi abbiamo preso un calamaro ripieno e degli spaghetti con alici e pecorino. Ebbene il calamaro, in effetti due di media grandezza, è delizioso, i sapori sono felicemente bilanciati tra l'amarostico dei broccoli, la morbidezza della provola, difficile da gestire quando è cotta, per niente invasiva e la scioglievolezza del calamaro, dal sapore più dolce. Gli spaghetti, poi, che piacevole sorpresa. Devo premettere che le alici con la pasta non sono il mio piatto preferito, le preferisco fritte o alla brace, ma ho voluto provare dato che veniva pubblicizzato sul menù come "specialità della casa". Che scelta felice. Gli spaghetti sono cotti al punto giusto, i pomodorini - giusto due - danno un leggero colore e sapore - il pecorino che interviene all'improvviso, che dire...buono, buono... Una unica avvertenza, il piatto è giustamente piccante, proprio come piacciono a me quasi tutti i piatti di mare, ma forse questa caratteristica dovrebbe essere dosata in base al commensale. Ottimi, infine, sia i dolci che il vino bianco della casa. Il prezzo é giusto per la qualità, le porzioni e la location. I miei complimenti,...
