Hotel Restaurant Jägerhof — Restaurant in Pustertal - Val Pusteria

We had dinner at this place. The location and atmosphere is pleasant. The service was very attentive and staff tried hard to make the best out of a terrible situation.

Our reservation was for 8.30pm. We were late by some 10-15mins, so by the time we sat down and got menus it was around 9pm. At that point we were asked to order quickly because the kitchen closes at 9.30pm.

We ordered quickly but were later told that starters and mains would arrive at the same time (!) because the kitchen needs to close. So we chose to cancel starters and just have mains.

We were also told that we could not have desserts, although it turned out later that it was possible.

I cannot begin to describe the amount of stress this evening caused - constant rushing by staff, messing around with what can and can't be done, etc.

We spoke to the manager who is surely part of the problem - he said this never happened before and if we hadn't been late everything would have been fine. Instead of admitting that they take late bookings that they should not take if kitchen needs to close at 9.30.

We got some free drinks out of this, and food was actually pretty good. But the incredulity of the situation was baffling, I've not been asked to have both starter and main brought at same time for quite a few years now.

Overall, I certainly can't recommend this restaurant for a late-ish (not by Italian...

Hotel is in a great location in Colfosco and perfect for a ski holiday. We had great snow and the hotel was ski-in ski-out (pictures are of the access to the slope from the top of the stairs from the boot room) though there are two flights of stairs up to the slope from the boot room. The boot room is great and as well as storing skis overnight they have really effective boot warmers.||The rooms were of a good size and were really clean. The daily service was excellent. Mattresses were really comfortable but even with the extra pillows provided the pillows were not great (may just be a personal preference) just too soft and did not really provide any support.||We were at the hotel on a half board basis. Evening meal was great each evening. Breakfasts became a little repetitive and we definitely “continental”in nature. A bit more variety a breakfast would improve things.||The drinks in the hotel for dinner and in the bar are all reasonably priced.||I would definitely recommend the hotel, as whist I have taken one point off for the breakfasts and pillows, I recognise this may be personal preference. I would return to the hotel...

We have just spend a wonderful week here and will come back for sure! I know the Jägerhof from my childhood 30 years ago and have been to Colfosco last time in 2013. The makeover since then is stunning. The style merges traditional with modern elements in a unique and appealing way. The stuff was super kind (don't know if this might have been different in earlier years according to older reviews - we have not a thing to criticize here!), food was good and the bar offers a variety of delicious drinks. Best regards to the barkeeper who managed to get me wasted with just one single hot rhum punch. ;-) Our personal highlight was the spa area where we could get warm again after up to 9 hours in the snow. So beautiful and relaxing! The only downside might have been the relatively high prices overall, but hey - that's what you have to expect if you want to do skiing holidays.
