Cava 18 — Restaurant in Rieti

Mi dilungo un pò ma voglio raccontare. Abbiamo prenotato in questo ristorante spinti dalle recensioni positive lette su Internet, purtroppo non ci possiamo accodare, la nostra esperienza non è stata delle migliori. In quattro a tavola, 1 bistecca per due con contorno e due la gricia, ci chiedono se le pietanze vanno portate tutte contemporaneamente e naturalmente diciamo di sì, così da mangiare tutti insieme. Neanche il tempo che il cameriere vada via dal tavolo arrivano le due gricia, pasta palesemente precotta, tiepida, messa nel piatto poggiando sul fondo un pò di guanciale e pecorino a coprire la magagna, praticamente pasta in bianco con guanciale a parte. Due mangiano e due guardano. Dopo 15 minuti, sollecitata arriva la carne, una bistecca che al momento del conto a loro dire era kg 1.7 ma avrà fatto sì e no un kg e poco più, dato che loro pesano ad occhio e non dimostrano ciò che dicono, anche a noi viene da fare la stessa cosa, ma cmq paghiamo a "fiducia". I contorni a fine cena non erano ancora pervenuti, chiamiamo il cameriere che ci guarda e tira dritto, ci rivolgiamo ad un altro dipendente che con fare indisposto nel sentirci chiedere dei contorni, ci dice che li può annullare se non li vogliamo più, non capendo che noi non solo, se li abbiamo ordinati è perché li vogliamo, ma che avrebbero dovuto portarli insieme al secondo non al posto del caffè. A conclusione ci chiedono se la serata, sorvolando su quello, quello e quell'altro fosse andata bene , e con garbo e senza ipocrisia diciamo loro che sarebbe potuta andare meglio, ci danno ragione ,ma li sentiamo una volta allontanati dal tavolo prenderci in giro e ridacchiare....

Our first time there and it is one of the two best, if not the best Steak House in Central Italy. I had the green pepper filet, and my wife had the mixed grill. Both were excellent and this was the first time in two years the meat was perfectly.cooked to medium rare. We had a nice salad is finoccio and orange, desert of panna cotta with Frutti di Bosco. Enjoyable food with very good service in a smart modern style. The house red by the glass was so nice I wanted another, but we were going on to drink more elsewhere. The steak with porcini mushrooms and truffle was good, although it had a little too much olive oil for my English palate. I also enjoyed the cheesecake with dark chocolate sauce.
