Visited July 2012 — La Marianna, Rimini.
La Marianna is the seafood-focused younger sibling of Osteria Dë Börg, and in the height of a 40-degree summer, the cool nautical interior was the perfect retreat. Service was spot-on: attentive yet unobtrusive, professional throughout.
The meal began with piadina, just a touch thinner than ideal - the day baker missing the moist balance their night-shift counterpart nails - still delicious, but not perfection. 9/10.
Next, the capesante gratinate: scallops baked with breadcrumbs and courgettes, roe intact. Cooked sweet and tender, beautifully balanced, though lacking a final spark of acidity. 9.5/10.
For the main, a hearty brodetto, Emilia-Romagna’s classic fish stew, brimming with shellfish. Generous and satisfying, but a little over-seasoned - the natural salinity of the shellfish went uncompensated for. 8.5/10.

The service was a little lacking - they took a bit long to bring the second meal, but that was because not all of us had two meals. Restaurants in the tourist centre tend to be a bit rushed. We liked the food, they also brought us cheese and pastry. Also when we asked for different kind of pasta than was written in the menu, they had to no problem with giving ut to us. While eating pasta with shrimps, they were cut down weirdly and we had to "fish it out" all the time, but that was the only problem we had. Dessert was tasty though. Also brought us complimentary pistachio liquor.
Overall, a good place to...
Read moreVery lovely place with a romantic atmosphere. I love fried fish and pasta with fish (they are particularly abundant so take care) especially with tomato sauce. I also recommend the grilled fish and the desserts (let the waiter suggest you the best ones). It is very typical and I eat there almost every week because the price is good (but not so cheap because you are eating fish) and you eat very well. On summer you can also eat outside with nice lights. Great options also for gluten-free. The restaurant is very close to "Il borgo" (some streets very particular because the fishermen were used to live there and there are lots of paintings on the walls; the atmosphere is unique), Ponte di tiberio (built around 50 AC.) and the...
