Casa Naos — Restaurant in Rome

Whenever you hear about a new great place in Rome, the risk of experiencing a gross outcome is real. Naos is not an exception. Lack of attention and focus on the client's needs is the DNA of many places in Rome. My wife and I booked at Naos for dinner, according to their timetable, at 7.30 pm. The start was awful. I complained to the manager because of the music's noise level. The live band was jamming to test instruments and tracks during the opening hours. Just not acceptable. I admit he quickly solved the issue. All well, what ends well. I keep preferring to go to places without complaining, though.

Here's the experience in short:

Atmosphere & Place 6: We had a hard time locating the place. In the end, we had to ask people about it. Nevertheless, the Neos is stunning. The furniture is fantastic, and the overall setup looks great. I wouldn’t say I liked our table setting because of the chairs. They are not designed for having a meal. The light design plays a significant role in creating a sexy atmosphere. Even if I appreciate the restroom for impaired people, the toilets are not in good shape and what is not acceptable is the broken handles. It is impossible to lock the doors.

Menu 7: I liked everything we ordered. The menu is basic, but it makes sense since they serve Greek cuisine. A mention is worth to the gyros. The meat was perfectly cooked.

Service 6 ½: The staff was friendly and well prepared in explaining the food and drinks menu.

Bill 6: Considering the location and the food quality, it's fair...

Naos offered an enticing rooftop dining experience that was an intriguing mix of highs and lows. The ambiance on the rooftop was stunning, with a vibe that added to the beauty of the surroundings. The food, consisting of a variety of mezze and a couple of side dishes, was delicious and satisfyingly portioned. A special mention goes to the cocktails, which were expertly mixed and the highlight of our meal. Unfortunately, the service was slow, and an oversight resulted in my swordfish entrée being forgotten, leading to its cancellation. Although this incident marred our experience slightly, the superb quality of food and drinks, coupled with the mesmerizing rooftop setting, largely made up for it. Ho fruito di una sola cena. Posto carino, ma per chi sa di cosa sto parlando non è Ceresio 7 di Milano, a cui probabilmente si ispira non tanto come stile ma come situazione ed entourage/target di clientela voluto/desiderato. Ho assaggiato solo 5 piatti base pesce, facendo anche il bis di uno. Complessivamente cibo sopra la media con spunti di eccezionalità per alcuni accostamenti. Servizio discreto e presente. Unica pecca è che alla mia richiesta di una bollicina 100% pinot nero (in alternativa alla richiesta di un Bollinger PN che non avevano), mi è stato detto che non avevano nulla del genere. Peccato che in realtà nella carta dei vini è presente uno champagne 100% pinot nero. Un'occasione di vendita persa. Cocktail del bar intriganti e a modo loro coraggiosi (alcuni dejavu negli accostamenti, ma devono pur "vendere"). Bravi. Collocazione oggettivamente infelice (sia struttura in genere che ingresso). Presente una sbarra chiusa che costringe le signore con tacchi a passare su delle grate, anche se per un piccolo tratto. Ovviamente la sbarra impedisce l'ingresso delle auto con autista per il rilascio dei passeggeri. Scelta dettata suppongo per non creare ingorghi nella stretta stradina. Ascensore respingente e poco gradevole. Accoglienza buona. Scelta di arredamento curata che può o non può piacere, ma tutto al proprio posto nel concept voluto. Terrazza carina, ma con gli ovvi limiti della collocazione (presenti siepi per nascondere il panorama). Tavoli di diversa fattura. Non tutti ideali per la cena. Prezzi adeguati al target di clientela, non sempre alle pietanze/drink in sé. Nel complesso un posto che mi è piaciuto e in cui ritornerei. Non il massimo ma sicuramente una valida...
