Mamaflò restaurant — Restaurant in Rome

We were there for a dinner with my girlfriend, as recomendation of one of top 3 restaurants in Ostia. We came at 19:15 without reservation, 15 min before opening. Waiter told us, there is no problem and he will prepare a table for two in 2 min. After 25 mins at 19:40 (10 min after opening) they gave us a table. Waiter was nice, we made order in 10 min, as a starter we asked for fried squid and prawns and as a main course my girlfriend get gnocchi with sea bass and i asked for linguine with lobster. She asked for a limoncello spritz, they made it for her without problem even that they did not have it in menu. After maybe 15 min we get starter. We finished in 10 mins and the waiting begins.. Restaurant started getting busy (we were one of two tables at the beginning) and we sat there with dirty dishes 40 minutes. Everybody walked around us, checking our table with eyes all the time, but nobody cares.. So we decide to put all four plates on top of each other to maximize potential of someone to realize we were done with starter. Finally one of waitresses took our plates when she was passing by with stuff from other tables.. After more than 1 hour of waiting, my girlfriend asked the waiter, if everything is ok with our order and pointed out that we are still waiting over 1h for our course. His reply was just "i will check it" and then he leaves. In between, an another table was served with lobster linguine next to us (they came maybe 40 minutes after us).. Finally, we saw waiter with our meal. First they served food and then they brought cutlery.. Gnochi with sea bass were 2/10, two points just for homemade gnocchi, almost no fish, no taste, no pomodoro.. I get half lobster but without any scissors or lobster tongs.. So i was waiting again.. I started to eat it anyway, i fing a crackling on the claw so i tried to open it with fork and knife, maybe it should be eaten like this in Italy.. Nope, it ended up like i was thought it would.. Dirty table, dirty tshirt, cold linguine.. I asked for tongs, that time i was already upset.. Lobster was good, linguine nothing special, lets say 6/10. We wanted also desserts, but after 2,5h in this restaurant we decided to pay and just leave.. Nobody asked if we are ok, if the food is ok, if we need something.. Nothing.. For a whole time we were there. I was trying to reach our waiter for the bill, which ended up by me going inside to pay. There was nice lady, finally someone asked about our experience. We told her about extreme waiting, lobster etc. She than called our waiter, who just by walking around us said, im sorry, i already told you (no), it was late beacause other table had same pasta (????). We both work in gastronomy for many years and i hate making a scene in restaurant like this, but i think, as a tourist, who most likely never come back, we worth nothing to them and they just dont care. So unless you are not italian, dont go there, its just "view trap"...

The food Is PHENOMENAL!!! Honestly some of the best seafood I've had! Spaghetti alle vongole Is my favorite dish and whenever I come to Rome it's the first thing I have, this one in particular was THE BEST I've ever eaten and ive eaten many!!!! We had a starter of Turbot with fried artichokes (Rumbo con Carciofi alla giudia) together with the mix fish starter which from the pics you'll see is just a combination of things they bring e.g Calamari, prawns with Fennel and olives, baccalà, octopus with Roman broccoli, smoked salmon....The list continues..... followed by Spaghetti alle vongole veraci and finally the most incredible Nutella Tiramisu that was made by one of the waitresses there! It was again DELICIOUS!!!! The food is second to none! We went today at lunchtime on a very wet and windy day, the waves crashing behind us in the background and I have to say was actually a nice view to have albeit a bit scary 🤣!!! Overall great experience and will Def be returning in spring/summer months!!!!!! 10/10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

And it's irrelevant because I would have paid whatever they asked for the quality received but the prices were beyond reasonable!!! A...

Iniziamo col dire che salvo solo il servizio, gentili e cortesi, nonostante la situazione difficoltosa di cui ne i camerieri, tanto meno io e la mia famiglia, siamo responsabili.

Siamo in un periodo difficile, di Covid19, e le attività della ristorazione sono in notevole difficoltà, motivo per cui se un ristoratore ha la fortuna di avere persone disposte a mangiare nel proprio locale dovrebbe soddisfare ogni esigenza di quest'ultime, esigenze assolutamente alla portata di chiunque, nessuna richiesta stramba, se non un posto del tavolo decente (prenotato il giorno prima) e del cibo qualitativamente alto, nel gusto, nella presentazione, al palato.

Entrati nel locale, dopo aver prenotato per 4, la ragazza all'ingresso ci manda ad un tavolo per 2, credendo che fossimo solo io e mia sorella.

La cameriera in difficoltà non sapeva cosa fare, le specifichiamo che avevamo prenotato e ci era stata garantita una seconda fila rispetto il mare.

Arriva dunque la ragazza dell'ingresso, che ci dice che il nostro tavolo è un tavolo vicino al muro (muro sporco), di quelli che sanno di punizione e millanta una serie di giustificazioni che sono state tante occasioni perse per non appesantire ulteriormente l'inizio serata, dal momento che era il mio compleanno non insisto e lascio andare alla sua presa in giro.

Ordiniamo antipasti e primi, bene se l'inizio era stato pessimo, ma sti cavoli del posto alla fine, il cibo assolutamente non vale il prezzo del menu.

Antipasti insipidi, stesso discorso per i primi. Nessun sapore ricercato da far dire WOW, piatti normali che chiunque nella propria cucina può fare.

Non dico di certo che il cibo fosse da buttare, ma ripeto nulla di eccezionale, sapori piatti senza alcune note speciali, quelle note che chi ha assaggiato piatti ricercati ti fanno dire "assaggia questo, troppo buono", oppure la curiosità di capire che tipo di ingredienti siano mischiati in un piatto per ottenere un certo sapore.

Tutto questo non è accaduto, una cena piatta e insipida.

Nessun sapore che ti fa venir voglia di tornare.

Ma arriviamo al dunque, la ciliegina sulla torta, ordiniamo il dolce. Dei dolci preconfezionati e non fatti sul momento, per quanto firmati da un noto pasticcere nulla di eccezionale.

Mentre mi portano il dolce si calano le luci, parte una musica di tanti auguri e il dolce con questo candelotto sopra che altro non ha fatto che squagliarlo per il calore.

Imbarazzo a mille, nessuno gli aveva chiesto questa presa di confidenza a maggior ragione dopo la pessima serata, sarebbe stato opportuno evitare.

Sarei veramente curioso di sapere CHI ha autorizzato tale scenetta.

A quel punto muoio dalla voglia di andare via.

Arriva il conto, mi reco all'interno per pagare con carta, la cassiera mi chiede tutto bene, io che non so fare buon viso a cattivo gioco lascio trasparire l'insoddisfazione, poi lei vede il conto e dice "a chiaro tavolo 58" con un tono sarcastico, le faccio presente che per fortuna esistono le recensioni, lei non capisco cosa borbotta in risposta, pago e mentre vado via le faccio presente che ho anche 43,8K follower su instagram a cui farò presente questa disgustosa esperienza.

Mamaflo, ma anche no. A mai più.
