This place is so typical of most Italian restaurants that just don’t care because they know tourists will come and never return. I was told by friends to come here because the food was supposed to be so good and so special. The ambiance was nice and the settting very pleasant, clean and modern but that’s about it. They have a three euro cover which is outrageous. Basically it wa nine euros for two of us to get bread and water. After that I ordered a starter, some stuffed peppers. They were tasty sure, but fourteen euros for two peppers stuffed with bread crumbs is ridiculous. Then I ordered a fried anchovies and bracciola. Both Cameron a plate of lettuce mix that looked liked yesterday’s bagged lettuce from a supermarket. They were just five pieces of needed fish nothing special at all. No lemon to squeeze on them, no sauce of any kind, we are in the Aeolian islands yet not a single caper or tomato to be found. Basically just some dry fish on a bed of lettuce. The bracciola was just some tasteless meat wrapped around some dry bread crumbs. It was something I would expect they to serve in a hospital cafeteria. Sixty two euros down the drain for food that was not creative, not well prepared and had no flavor. I should have jcust had another pane cunzato in Lingua instead. Don’t waste you time here and whenever you find this typical Italian pattern of overcharging for mediocre please share it so they don’t keep taking...
Read moreNot the first time in this restaurant. But upon a new visit, strange circumstances appeared. It’s been impossible to get through by phone for two days, and it’s unclear how to book. The information says that it opens at 12, but we arrived at 12 and they said that they open at 12:30. It took me half an hour to figure out what to do. ok, let's take a walk. We wanted to book a table for lunch for 8 people, but they told us to come in half an hour and they would seat us without any problems. We arrived and another person reserved a large table for himself. We were left without a table. To which they didn’t answer us, how did this happen, they threw up their hands. They apologized. We asked for two free tables in different places, but were told they were booked. It’s not clear how to make a reservation if the phone doesn’t answer for two days and the reservation doesn’t work on site. The service is strange. Perhaps the Michelin vignettes have overheated the demand and the number of visitors. But the lack of interest in visitors and this attitude...
Read moreNestled in Salina Santa Marina's historic centre, Nni Lausta lives up to its numerous accolades proudly and justifiably plastered at its front. Fabio, the restaurant's owner is a true restaurateur. Fabio's attention to detail and focus on customer satisfaction would, to the untrained eye, seem likely to neglect; but, somehow he does it! My family and I have been coming to Salina for almost four years now, and as someone with severe nut and legume allergies I have found it difficult to eat out considering the island's precarity to someone who orients their eating based on the closest hospital. To the comfort of myself and my paranoid parents, Fabio made sure to treat my allergies with the highest importance. He took every order himself and instilled a fear of god into his kitchen staff to avoid cross contamination. Apart from Fabio's professionalism, the food is truly delicious, the staff are friendly and just as accommodating. Nni Lausta is the perfect example of when Italian food, hospitality and fellowship come together. Please visit.
