Salina EcoGastronomica
Salina EcoGastronomica is much more than a tour. It is a true experience. Giuseppe has founded a service that brings visitors face-to-face with the Aeolian Island of Salina, a truly remarkable place. I strongly advise you to contact him directly by email at LAMALFANET@gmail.com rather than booking a tour with a third party website. This way, you can let Giuseppe know exactly what you would like to do. He can tailor his tours to meet your needs.
We’ve took two tours with Giuseppe, and both have allowed us to experience all corners of Salina Island. Most importantly, we were able to learn all facets of Caper production unique to Salina. Before this trip, I only thought of capers as those little things that come in those tiny jars from the supermarket. Now, I have a whole new level of understanding and appreciation for this significant agricultural product.
Giuseppe will tour you throughout the island. Be prepared for some truly breathtaking vistas, as this island is truly a gem among gems. See if Giuseppe can arrange for a degustazione (a tasting) of local antipasti from the island. You won’t be disappointed. Be assured that by the end of the tour, you will have gained much more than good views, good food, and good information … you will have gained a friend...
Read moreGIUSEPPE is exactly the type of tour guide you dream of. From the first encounter, it's clear that his sole mission is to craft an experience tailored to you. My day began with a coffee and pastry at a local bar where Giuseppe worked to understand my interests.
Despite feeling drained from a long cruise the previous day, meeting Giuseppe was instantly reassuring. His passion for Salina is contagious, and he gave me ample opportunities to photograph the island’s beauty. His vast knowledge of the island, coupled with his infectious enthusiasm, made it an unforgettable experience.
Whether you’re into wine, history, or the island’s famed capers, Giuseppe offers something for every kind of traveler. For anyone visiting Sicily or the Aeolian Islands, I highly recommend his tours. He also leads adventures around Sicily itself, ensuring an authentic, immersive experience...
Read moreGiuseppe of SalinaEcogastronomica gave us a wonderful full afternoon sharing his knowledge about the unique and beautiful Salina. This included visiting the small townships of Malfa and Pollara and spending time wandering through the vineyards, caper bushes and fruit trees in Valdichiesa. The hour spent wine tasting at a small cellar with the most "gentile" winemaker was also a highlight. Superb wines enjoyed in conjunction with a 'caper tasting plate'. Giuseppe's small scale operation, personal charm and encouragement to move at 'island time' added to the memorable day. His love and care for the people, produce and ecology of the island and the philosophy of slow food make him a very special host. He deserves to do well and he is good for the beautiful...
