Bar Santangelo — Restaurant in Sciacca

We've recently discovered Sciacca's main square (great view, perfect wedding spot) and were starving for a good ice cream. Unfortunately, we picked this authentic-looking bar over the more modern ones: we sat down and were nicely welcomed by a young boy who wanted our order immediately. After asking for some time, we ordered ice-cream and different types of granita. We specialize in local sweets and we could not appreciate any of them: my almond granita was not even a granita. The most ridiculous part was the payment: my husband faced a very nervous lady who started to shout at everybody in the pub because she couldn't find the sticky note of our order. Eravamo in tre, ci siamo seduti a un tavolo libero con l’intenzione di ordinare tre granite. Il cameriere si è avvicinato e, dopo una veloce accoglienza, ci ha detto che avrebbe pulito il tavolo solo se avessimo consumato. Una frase assurda, considerando che eravamo lì proprio per consumare!

Purtroppo a Sciacca non è la prima volta che capitano episodi simili, dove sembra che il cliente venga visto più come un fastidio che come una persona da servire con cortesia. Un peccato enorme, perché il potenziale turistico della città è alto, ma atteggiamenti come questi danno un’immagine poco ospitale.
