Cascina Ovi — Restaurant in Segrate

Excellent restaurant in Segrate, near Milano 2, in a charming location: once the site was occupied by a typical, large farm, in Lombardy style, and the owner kept the original walls and look-alike roof. Although they offer fish and meat, I usually have fish, always suggested (in entries, first and second courses) in a creative manner. Try the tuna tartare or the linguine with vongolas and sliced bottarga to breath the taste of sea; or a simple meat "tagliata", which is so delicious to melt in your mouth. Leave some space for a dessert: I had their typical "tiramisau", which is a marvellous tiramisù made with slices of carasau bread from Sardinia and an incredibly tasty mascarpone. Wihe selection is excellent, so is the personnel and the owner, who comes and greets all guests at every single table. Prices are adequate, but really worth the place and quality. We spent 10 days drving through Italy (from Rome to Venice) and Casina Ovi was by far the BEST restaurant we ate at. We loved every single plate the chef brought out for us, but more impressive was the fact that the owner first asked each of us what food base we enjoyed more, and they designed each plate sequence to satisfy those cravings! I think we had a 6 course meal in all... Francesco and his cook are essentially food artists. We loved the fact that every plate had the Sardinian angle, specially the citrus footprint, but never over-doing it. Keep it up, and you'll get a Micheline star, it's that good! The atmosphere is great, the staff, the owners & the cooks, are all working hard to make sure you have an unforgetable dining experience. We will definitely come back our next time near Milan!

Sono stata in questo ristorante proprio ieri sera e non posso che dirmi pienamente soddisfatta. In primis mi ha colpita la location. Una cascina ristrutturata, moderna ed elegante con tavoli sia all’interno che all’esterno. L’ambiente è curato e pulito (compresi i bagni, cosa assolutamente non scontata) anche se non estremamente formale. Il menù offre portate prevalentemente di pesce, anche crudo. I piatti sono originali, fantasiosi, ben presentati nella loro semplicità, di ottima qualità e con ingredienti combinati in modo esperto e con grande competenza. Abbiamo preso degli antipasti crudi: il pesce era freschissimo e senza nulla che ne coprisse particolarmente il sapore, solo aromi che lo esaltavano. Le porzioni forze leggermente scarse ma nel complesso la cena è stata soddisfacente. I primi davvero perfetti, sapori mai provati prima. Ottimo il risotto con crema di zafferano, capasanta mantecata e gamberi crudi. Ottimi e originali anche i dolci. I prezzi non sono da osteria ma la qualità del cibo, il servizio ed il posto valgono il conto finale. Una nota particolarmente positiva sono stati il proprietario Francesco e la moglie. Persone squisite, accoglienti, che ti fanno sentire a casa. Molto attenti anche alla mia bimba di 4 anni, l’hanno conquistata subito: le hanno dedicato molte attenzioni a partire dalla scelta della sedia per la cena e poi del piatto scelto da lei che con molta disponibilità le hanno fatto preparare. Le hanno anche permesso di visitare la cucina a fine servizio. Serata piacevolissima davvero. Ci torneremo di sicuro.
