Osteria della mamma — Restaurant in Serrara Fontana

We spent eight days on Ischia, and ate here twice (catching the bus from Sant' Angelo) - it was our favourite restaurant of the holiday!

The owner is lovely, and very helpful, and the wider family all seem to help out when its busy.

The food was exceptional, and the specials board changes every day - I'd recommend choosing from there, if anything catches your eye. For me, the highlights were two (very different) prawn starters, which were both flawless, but everything I saw looked good.

The food and drink are very reasonably priced, and the owner insists on a free limoncello to finish the meal, which is an added treat.

Raphaele and the team provide extremely personal service in their authentic, family run restaurant. I was highly impressed with the quality of ingredients used - local and fresh. My family and I experienced three dining experiences and every night the menu of the day was updated with exciting dishes that represent the diversity of ingredients in Ischia. This was by far the best restaurant that we found in Sant Angelo, therefore we returned several times. In addition the portions are generous and prices are fair.

It’s all about quality Italian food here! Mum knows what she can do with the fantastic local sourced food. Order a selection of plates here and try them all - even a simple plate of spaghetti vongole on a warm afternoon with a chilled local white will leave you contented for a downhill walk (take the old road mostly pedestrian, it’s 100m away starting up around the corner and then detour from this to a steep stepped beach for a snooze on the sands then on to the port for tea or stronger at...
