Pizzeria da Gigi — Restaurant in Soriano nel Cimino

Perfect spot for a takeout lunch on my last day in town! I’m sorry I didn’t find it sooner!

There’s a buffet style set up with all of the dishes spread out on a counter top. You choose what you would like and they dish it out and heat it up (and in my case pack it up).

I ordered chicory greens, a baked seasoned pumpkin dish, a couple of chicken wings(why does chicken in Europe taste so much better than in the United States?!?), ravioli, lasagna and cannelloni and OMG everything was so delicious! I don’t leave a lot of reviews but I HAD to for this place!

If you’re ever in town, you should check it out. I didn’t ask, but I got the feeling that they use a lot of local ingredients. Oh, and it’s really affordable. 15 € for all of that and I could only eat half of what I got. But I won’t let it go to waste, I know what I’m eating for...

Not a fancy place, but a very traditional Italian place. Great old pics and news articles on the walls. You basically point to the dishes you want that they have prepared and in a buffet table. Then they warm or finish and bring to your table. Many locals go here. Price is on the lower side too! We ate inside but they also have an outside area. Nel Borgo medioevale di Soriano, trovi ancora una cucina con il calore ed i sapori di casa. La "Trattoria da Gigi", condotta mirabilmente dalla sua famiglia, propone i piatti della tradizione, rispettando la stagionalità dei prodotti locali. L'ambiente é semplice e cordiale. La caratteristica sala interna, con arredo in legno, antiche travi sul soffitto e pareti in pietra a vista, crea la giusta atmosfera. Le proposte del menù sono molte e tutte invitanti mentre i prezzi sono più che onesti. I primi, rigorosamente preparati con pasta fatta in casa, sono conditi con salse e ragù eccellenti. Anche per le carni la scelta é ottima e varia. Le golose ricette sono esposte nell'ampia vetrina della cucina, aperta verso l'ingresso del locale. Noi abbiamo preferito le pappardelle e le foglie, condite con ragù bianco di maiale. Una porzione di lasagna con ragù e pecorino, é stata addirittura preparata al momento, per un commensale intollerante ai latticini. Gigi, Renata e Paolo, con grande passione per il buon cibo, ci hanno riservato un'attenzione oggigiorno poco scontata. Esperienza da provare...
