What a great surprise! This appears to be a family-run restaurant with Egisto being the owner and maybe one other family member working there but I suspect more. Built into an old cave that was used to hide people in 1945, it offers a great atmosphere. We arrived at almost 9PM on a Saturday night without a reservation but were not made to feel like "what??? no reservation??". They accommodated us and made every effort to make us feel comfortable. The service was great and it was a busy night so the waiters were running! Food was superb! We shared a pasta starter and then we each had our own main meal. Hubby had the rabbit while I had the chicken. I do have to admit that I didn't like all of the bones in my meal (and there were lots!!!) but I think that may be normal for chicken cacciatore. It was also a tad salty. I don't feel that this criticism should impact the star rating. Atmosphere, service, quality of food and value were great. A very busy spot, too! Clearly a sign that I am not the only one who appreciates the restaurant. I don't know how many tourists are around the area but we were staying up at the Diamond Resort and walked the 5 minutes to this restaurant (stairs to the left of the church in the square take you down to it, btw). If you are also staying in this location, make the effort and walk down. The little walk back up to the hotel after dinner is not much effort. If back in this area, we will definitely be back! Oh... and ask Egisto, the owner, if you can see the...

The menu is a delightful blend of traditional Italian cuisine and innovative dishes that showcase local ingredients. Each plate is a work of art, beautifully presented and bursting with flavor. I highly recommend starting with the antipasto platter, which features a variety of cured meats and artisanal cheeses that perfectly highlight the region's offerings.
For the main course, the homemade pasta is a must-try. I opted for the pappardelle with wild boar ragu, and it was cooked to perfection—tender, flavorful, and satisfying. The chef’s attention to detail truly shines in every dish.
The wine selection is impressive, featuring a curated list of local wines that pair beautifully with the meal. The staff is knowledgeable and passionate about their offerings, providing excellent recommendations that enhance the dining experience.
To finish, the dessert menu is equally enticing. The tiramisu is rich and creamy, a perfect conclusion to a remarkable meal.
Overall, Ristorante Rottezia delivers on every front—food, service, and ambiance. Whether you’re a local or just passing through, this gem is not to be missed. I can’t wait to return for another unforgettable...
Read moreDinner was amazing. Me and my wife are vacationing in Rome for 19 days and decided that we wanted to visit Sacro Bosco (Sacred Woods), also known as the The Monsters of Bomarzo. So we rented a car and booked a hotel in Soriano Nel Cimino.
Once at the hotel we looked up local restaurants and easily decided on Rottezzia Osteria Birreria Di Famiani Emanuele based on other reviews.
We started off with the cave aged cheeses withe honey and jams, they were paired perfectly. Then we shared the wild boar pasta, it's was incredible. For ouur mains my wife had the chicken and I had the rabbit. Both were cooked perfectly and tasted fantastic. For dessert we had chestnuts in rum with chocolate, what a great way to finish off a great dinner.
The food was great and so was the service. Everything was explained what it was and their knowledge of beers was outstanding.
After paying our bill we were walking out and where offered a shot of grappa, they even put them in a maple leaf shot glass knowing are from British Columbia, Canada.
If you are in the area and do not go to this restaurant you are missing out on one of the best meals you will ever eat, we will be back in...
