Fortuna Madre — Restaurant in Terracina

We showed up, stomachs ready, tastebuds whispering "legendary pizza awaits." What we found instead? A live-action performance of “The Sopranos: Terracina Edition.”

A rotund gentleman — let’s call him Il Boss del Disinteresse — was parked in a chair like a Roman emperor mid-siesta, puffing on a cigarette like the pizza oven was his therapist. We asked about food. He didn’t stand up. Didn’t even turn around. Just barked that they were closed — despite it being Sunday, 4:30 PM, and Google Maps promising warm cheesy joy until 11:30.

Meanwhile, inside? Full-on family dinner party. Staff laughing, twirling pasta, living their best Michelin-star fantasy. We stood outside like exes who weren’t invited. Apparently, if you're not part of the sacred inner circle, you don’t get sauce. You get smoke.

Look — maybe the pizza is amazing. Maybe it's so good they decided to keep it for themselves. But if your business hours depend on whether the staff feels like eating or not, maybe update your Google listing to: “Open until our next craving hits.”

We didn’t get pizza. We got ghosted. Zero stars for service. One star for the unintentional comedy. Would’ve loved to try the food… if we weren’t rejected like...

Terrible, terrible, terrible. Looked for a nearby restaurant for a quick pizza and found this one with good average score and Napolitan pizza on the menue. We did not have a reservation but they had a table available for us. During the entire visit we got the feeling they did not want us there. Ordered pizza. It was tasteless and the dow was not completely baked in the middle. When finished eating parts of the food we asked for the bill. Waited about 15 minutes. Then we overheard staff telling another party to pay by the cashier. I went there to pay and my family started to slowly move out from the restaurant. While I was paying the staff run after the family very upset telling them we have to pay, thinking we ran away from the bill. To summarize. Terrible service. Terrible pizza. Nice location on the beach. I would recommend not to visit this...

Il locale all'aperto esplodeva per le persone presenti ma questo solo per dare maggiore valore alla professionalità del personale e dei titolari del locale che sono stati molto professionali, attenti e veloci, malgrado la serata difficile, a gestire le ordinazioni di tutti i tavoli. Pizza tipicamente napoletana di ottima qualità, nella nottata nessuna sensazione di sete o di gonfiore, caratteristica ahimè comune quando si mangia la pizza. Durante l'attesa della pizza il personale a più riprese è passato a rassicurarci dell'arrivo imminente della nostra ordinazione cosa che denota professionalità ed attenzione nei confronti della clientela, "merce rara" ormai nei locali, soprattutto di sabato sera quando si potrebbe dare per scontato che si debba aspettare "senza fiatare". Rapporto qualità/prezzo ottimo, tornerò sicuramente per provare tutto il resto del menu che è praticamente infinito e pieno di numerose chicche tipicamente napoletane, e non solo, anche questo abbastanza inusuale. Ultimo capolavoro della serata che ribadisco essere strapiena di persone: ho dimenticato sul tavolo i miei nuovi auricolari wireless Huawei FreeBuds Pro all'interno del case bianco lucente e mi sono accorto della dimenticanza dopo 30 minuti. Ho chiamato il locale ormai consapevole di aver perso gli auricolari, cosa che avrebbe reso "salato" il conto della serata ed invece la risposta è stata "sì li abbiamo trovati, sono custoditi dalla cameriera che ha sparecchiato il tavolo, la aspettiamo per il ritiro!". Che dire, complimenti, complimenti, complimenti, ve lo meritate veramente, complimenti per tutto quello che concerne la ristorazione perché siete stati bravissimi, complimenti al pizzaiolo perché è riuscito a sfornare un milione di pizze buonissime solo con un piccolo forno, complimenti per il servizio e.....complimenti per l'onestà nel aver custodito gli auricolari lasciati...
