A Modern Coffee Masterpiece in Trani: The Best Cappuccino in Italy! As a coffee lover who has visited Italy three times, I've come to recognize two distinct types of Italian coffee shops. There are the traditional ones, often run by older baristas who are espresso masters but tend to struggle with milk frothing for cappuccinos. Then there are the modern establishments, excelling in creative coffee drinks with perfectly frothed milk poured with artistic flair. On my recent trip home from Naples, I stumbled upon an incredible modern coffee shop in the charming town of Trani, Puglia. This place truly stood out! I was greeted by two talented baristas, Vincenzo and Diana. I ordered a cappuccino, and Vincenzo crafted what can only be described as a work of art. The milk froth was incredibly smooth, the temperature absolutely perfect, and he poured it with an amazing heart design – exactly like the pictures you see of expertly made latte art. Beyond the incredible coffee, the café itself is exceptionally well-equipped and immaculately clean. Without a doubt, this was the best coffee I've ever tasted, not just in Italy, but anywhere! The espresso was so perfect that I even bought a kilogram of their specially made coffee to take home. I wish Vincenzo and Diana immense success. I wholeheartedly recommend stopping by to experience authentic Italian coffee at its absolute finest. You won't be...
Read moreTraditional Italian espresso can be found seemingly on every block in Italy, much of it quite good. It’s harder, however, to find specialty espresso and filter (pour over) coffee, let alone in a smallish port town on the Adriatic.
Code Cafe is rather stylish (though not at all snobbish), with tasty pasties, and excellent service. They had two different blends for espresso — one pure Arabica and another more traditional Italian with some Robusta. Additionally, they have several others beans for filter coffee; rarely do you get to select your beans in an Italian cafe. The friendly barista has good coffee knowledge, and makes very tasty espresso drinks. I will be returning soon to try their filter coffee.
A bonus: they have a few seats inside, plus standing counter service, and a handful of seats just outside the cafe; however, they have a wonderful al fresco area in the piazza right across the street. You order at the counter; grab a table in the shaded piazza; they’ll bring your order to you; you then go back in afterwards to pay. The waitstaff is attentive and friendly, providing us suggestions on local eateries and cafes in nearby towns, all the while chatting boisterously with every...
Read moreI’m currently traveling around Italy and staying in Bari. This morning, on a whim, I decided to visit Trani. In the peaceful morning light, the white stone Trani Cathedral stood beautifully against the backdrop of the blue sea and sky—it was truly stunning.
I hadn’t eaten anything since morning, so when hunger struck, I looked around and noticed a place called Code Coffee. The place was buzzing with life, with a steady stream of customers coming and going. The owner and his wife were incredibly friendly, and the atmosphere was so welcoming that I felt like I could stay there all day.
I ended up ordering three different coffees—each one was delicious. You could feel their love for coffee in every little detail, from the custom-made machines to the way they spoke about their craft.
If you ever find yourself in Trani, I highly recommend starting your morning with a visit to Code Coffee. It’s the perfect way to...
