What a fantastic experience!!!!! Located on a piazza with all the atmosphere of a local neighborhood is this little restaurant called La Locanda del Giullare. It is an iniziative to give young people with special needs an opportunity to be productive members of the community. We saw Elio in early evening while we were searching for a place to eat near our B&B near the center of Trani. He told us that it was a fixed menu for appetizer, first second, dessert and coffee. I’m so glad that none of the other places suited our needs because we had an incredible meal. It was like having dinner at your Italian relatives house while visiting in Italy but prepared by a professional chef and served by the sweetest, most attentive waiter all for €25. I happened to find this lovely restaurant by chance with my partner. He is British and I wanted him to taste what Italy really has to offer when you don't fall into tourist traps. Well, this place realized our dreams. My octopus starter was divine and so was my partner's carpaccio. The main course lived up to expectations with a marvellous cooked branzino for my partner (of a size and taste that you can't simply find in the UK) and an amazing frittura mista for me. The chef let me know that the calamari were freshly fished and you could definetely tell that as they broke easily with every bite (in other places you will find them chewy).
