Enter with lofty expectations and prepare for them to be exceeded. We were the first people in the place at 7:15, but by 8:30 it was packed. They don’t advertise reservations, but readily accept them via WhatsApp. Extensive wine list organized by region with both classic and interesting offerings at very reasonable prices. We opted to drink by the glass in order to try more things and they were very accommodating with sensible pairings. The food, though… Let’s talk about the food. Utterly flawless and elevated takes on regional cuisine. Our order of beef tartare, smoked fish carpaccio, picci (a long, thick, housemade pasta), spaghetti alla chitarra, duck a la orange, and some of the silkiest, most well-seasoned spinach I’ve ever had failed to demonstrate a weak link. Most anything on the menu can be ordered in a full- or half-sized portion, which allows for guests to get into even more varied indulgence than usual. Service was exceptionally kind, patient, and helpful. These guys work hard. Ultimately I cannot say enough nice things and look forward to finding...

With a small, constantly changing menu (3-4 choices each of antipasti, primi and secondi) this gives you both the option to try multiple dishes without over-eating and to have something delicious but light at lunchtime. The food was superb, beautifully served and with a really delicate touch meaning all the flavours could be enjoyed. The wines are excellent and with the afore mentioned half portions it makes for a very reasonable meal. As well as selling local cheeses and other produce it runs as a wine bar when not serving food and they run a tasting evening with 5 courses with wine to match. The location may not be exciting (unexciting building, on a quiet road looking onto the railway embankment) but the food is exception and all served in a very friendly, clean and smart restaurant. We...
Read moreA lovely restaurant / wine shop, just a few steps from the centre of Umbertide (and with easy parking too!). An interesting menu, we both had the courgette salad (so refreshing), the duck (cooked perfectly) and the pistachio cream pudding. A Prosecco and a charming Pinot Nero were excellent wine choices by the glass. I can really recommend this place, and though we didn't try it, the 'half plate' approach would allow you to have a pasta as well and not feel too full. This place...
